What time do your kids go to bed?

My DD (20 months) likes to go to bed really early, sometimes at 6. My DS (nearly 6) have always been a night owl even as a toddler and was awake last night when I got home at 10:30 with my DH. We seem to have two extremes. What time would you say is the norm?

Mine goes between 6.30/7pm at 2... takes himself off lol

bonkerz · 21/04/2006 18:53

my DS has always been absolutely brilliant with regards bedtimes. He is 6 in July and goes at 7pm most nights although does go at 6pm atleast 2 nights a week! He sleeps through till 7am no problems!
DD is 16 weeks and goes to bed at 6.30pm, she dream feeds at 10pm and sleeps through till 6.30ish

Hi, DS1 (9) goes up at 9 but is always awake when I go to bed, 11-12pm, he just doesn't seem to need sleep. He's always been the same.

DS2 (2) goes at 7 pm, flat out straight away

DD (4mths) does her own thing completely! Smile

mazzystar · 21/04/2006 18:55

most people i know seem to send theirs off to bed about 7.

but we like a lie in in our house, so its 8.30 - 9 here.

Greensleeves · 21/04/2006 18:56

between 6 and 7.30, depending on whether they've slept during the day/how utterly sick of the sight of them I am Grin

SomethingAboutMary · 21/04/2006 18:57

My ds is 3.6 & he goes to bed at 7pm just about to take him up now & wakes between 7-8am depending on how tired he is. My dd is 3 months & she goes at 8 - 8.30pm after last feed & sleeps through until 7am

How are you getting your dd's to sleep all night??

fsmail · 21/04/2006 19:01

Thanks for that, I am glad some kids go at 6 pm. I always feel really guilty about her going so early but she won't sleep during the day now and can barely keep her eyes open. Having said that, it does give us the evening back as DS often goes up at about 8 and listens to his tapes or plays games.

Ds aged 2 goes anytime btw 6.30pm and 7pm depending on how tired he is and when Dh gets home from work

Wembley · 21/04/2006 19:07

DS 9 months goes to bed at 6pm and sleeps until about 8am and DD 3 years goes to bed at 7pm (pretends to read her books for about 10 minutes) and sleeps until about 8:30am

Bozza · 21/04/2006 19:11

We have lights out at 7.30 for DS (5) and DD (1). I would actually put DD to bed a bit later to ensure that she woke up at a civilised time and she could then nap longer but DS needs to be in bed then.

starlover · 21/04/2006 19:13

my 14 month old goes at about 7pm and wakes up anywhen between 7.30 and 9am!

blueteddy · 21/04/2006 19:14

My 3 year old goes to bed at 7pm & my 6 year old goes at 7.30pm.

FrannyandZooey · 21/04/2006 19:15

My 3 year old used to go about 8.30 but now we have made a huge advance on the old sleep disorder and he now goes around 7.30 or 8. If he hasn't had a nap that day it would be 6.30 or 7.

Riddo · 21/04/2006 19:17

DS (6) goes at 7pm which means I should be putting him to bed and not messing about on here. It is Friday though. On a school night he needs 12-13 hours or he can't keep going. DD (11) goes between 8.30 and 9 but often reads til 10 if she's got something on her mind. Both are vile when sleep diprived so sleepovers are banned for a while.

starlover Envy

can you sit yours down with mine for a chat please (he's a 7pm to 5 or 5:30 man - eeeuw)

CHICagoMUM · 21/04/2006 19:24

DS (16months) is down at 7pm, wakes at 9am(ish). DD on the other hand (4) goes down at about 8-8.30 once she has been in and out of her room 100 times then is usally tapping me on the head or prising my eyelids open between 5am-6am.

louismummy · 21/04/2006 19:45

this thread makes me sad... ds 20 months goes to bed at 8pm wakes 6.45-7.15 . imo no child should be awake before 7am!!! cos that's when i would like to wake up!!!

DS and DD (2.5 and 7 months) go to bed between 7 and 8.

hulababy · 21/04/2006 19:48

DD (just turned 4yo) goes to bed about 7:30pm. She normally sleeps for about 12 hours, if left. Luckily this means if she goes to bed late, she will wake later.

We are pretty flexible with bedtimes though, especially at weekends. Tomorrow will be a much later night as staying over at PILs and we will all be having fun, a bit of a laugh, etc. and she'll join in for a while.

nutcracker · 21/04/2006 19:49

On a school night ..

Dd1 (8) 8 and reads until 8.30
Dd2 (6) 7.30 and reads until 8
Ds (3) 7 and straight to sleep.

If it's not a school night then Ds goes at about 8 and the girls go up at 8 and play until about 9.

hulababy · 21/04/2006 19:50

I couldn't really put Dd to bed earlier. if I did she'd have to eat on her own and not see very much of DD. For us that hour of family time, from when DH gets home at 6:15-6:30, is really important and I wouldn't want to have to lose that.

Sparklemagic · 21/04/2006 19:52

DS goes at sixish - some nights he is asleep at six, others at 6.30. He ALWAYS wakes at around six am so I have started the earlier bedtime because I want him to have 12 hours a night. He's a growing lad and he definitely needs it!

I wish he would develop an ability to lie in!

Posey · 21/04/2006 20:03

Mine are exactly the same as Nutcracker's (except I don't have a dd2),
so, dd, 8, to bed at 8, reads til 8.30
ds, 3, up at 7, asleep straight after story.
