When is it time to potty train

My DD is 2 and I'm wondering when it's time to start potty training. She does not tell me when she is doings wee's or poo's and when I've tried sitting her on potty she would rather play with it. When is the time? What signs do I look for? How do you start?

If she's not showing obvious signs of being ready then I would wait until the warmer weather - for one they can wear nothing less clothes which makes the practicalities easier and for another thing you have the hopefully nicer weather for the extra laundry you will inevitably end up doing.

I would wait till the summer and see if she seems ready then. But there are things you can do in the meantime (which you might already be doing). When you go to the loo tell her what you're doing. If you notice she's doing a poo in her nappy tell her "you're doing a poo" to help her start to realise and articulate it herself. You might be able to notice when she wees as well, toddlers often do a kind of pause and look a bit vacant. Let her play with the potty if she wants or sit on it with her nappy on, put toys on it etc. All of this stuff might not be necessary and lots of people potty train without, but for others it does help.

Thank you very much for the advise. I'm totally gonba start role playing with her teddys on the potty but wait till better weather to try with her. Thank you
