afraid of sleeping alone

My 6 year old has developed a fear of sleeping in his own room. He had a nightmare a few weeks ago and now says he's afraid to sleep alone. His big brother is fed up with him demanding to sleep with him. There's plenty of room so it's not a huge deal, but how do I stop it becoming a habit?

Magic gold stars that ds1 sticks on to offending objects. Cupboard doors especially. Also one at the top and bottom of the bed. They keep all "bad things" out and "good things" in!

That's worrying, Bloss. I recall the original concern but thought it had since been disproven. What about people who live in places where it doesn't really get dark in the summer motnhs? What sort of eye problems ensue, how likely is it to occur and can an eye test pick it up?

I don't think 3 is too young to learn about prayer. We have been praying with our daughter since she was born (now 2+10 months) and she now joins in 'talking to Jesus'. We always start saying 'thankyou' for the people we have seen and things we have done today, then sorry for being naughty, then please - and one of the pleases is always 'please look after K till she wakes in the morning'. If we forget to pray she gets quite upset - it is so much part of her bedtime routine she misses it if she doesn't do it and even made my (rather lapsed Christian) Dad do it with her when we were there last week.
It really works when she is feeling scared at night, we just remind her Jesus is looking after her, and everything is fine. HTH

Good tips, thanks folks. Bloss, I'd heard about this research too, but didn't know it had continued. It is worrying, although we do have darkness from midnight onwards.
