I am a bit stuck for ideas and feeling a bit nosy, although judging from other threads I think Weetabix will be top of the list in general

(I don't give DS Weetabix as neither DH nor I like it and I don't think it's fair to give DS something I personally think tastes like cardboard...)

Thanks in advance.

Mine are older now but at that age it was mainly Ready Brek with some fruit in or toast with water.

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 06/08/2012 09:23

How about some blue berry pancakes with sliced banana?

French toast and berries?

Breakfast sundae-basically layers of fruit , natural yogurt and granola

:)

Tangointhenight · 06/08/2012 09:28

Croissant warmed with banana inside
weetabix with fruit, I use the puréed fruit in it then chop up some raspberries and strawberries
toast with nutella, it's a once a week treat,
porridge with chopped fruit,
toast sandwich with boiled egg filling,
brioche roll with sugar free jam,
muesli with yogurt and fruit,

HTH

DD has just had Staffordshire Oatcakes and cheese although I know that's not much help if you aren't near Staffordshire Smile.

forevergreek · 06/08/2012 09:30

Porridge with purée

mum23girlys · 06/08/2012 09:34

I really struggled getting my youngest dd to eat much for breakfast from around 10 to 18 months. She's doesn't like spoon fed and started refusing weetabix! Don't blame her it's rotten! About 2 months ago I discovered Kellog's Mini Max and she loves them. They look quite like miniature shreddies. She can get them on the spoon easily herself or just lift them with her fingers without getting in too much mess. They are a really nice size for her. Just wish I'd discovered them months earlier as I would get upset every breakfast with her just eating a couple of bites of toast

BikeRaceRunningRaceNoSkiing · 06/08/2012 09:38

DD is BLW and we have bite size cereals like Oatibix and Shredded Wheat minis.

holler · 06/08/2012 09:40

Dd had toast with fruit purée on it, readybrek, banana. And weetabix.

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 06/08/2012 09:44

Scrambled egg/cheesy scrambled egg on toast

Beans on toast

Fruit slalad

Breakfast smoothie and toast

MeeWhoo · 06/08/2012 09:58

mmmmmmmhhhhhh! You are making me hungry now, most of these (bar the Wheetabix Wink) sound delicious!
Wheresmycaffeinedrip, how do you make blueberry pancakes? Do you mean normal pancakes with blueberry adding blueberry to the mix or does the blueberry go on top?

GnocchiNineDoors · 06/08/2012 10:00

Eggy bread (just egg and bread no extras)

Baby porrige

Toast (with Philly or butter)

Fruit

any combo of the above

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 06/08/2012 10:31

1egg
2oog natural bio yogurt
70ml milk
1tbs veg oil
130g plain flour
1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
10-12 tbsp blue berries

Mix egg yogurt milk and oil in a bowl
Add flour and bicarb mix well ( add more milk if too thick)
Heat up frying pan (add a little oil if needed)
Drop spoonfuls of batter into the pan place a few blueberries on top.
Cook on medium heat until bubbles appear and underside is golden. Turn and cook other side.

Then I slice banana on top and maybe drizzle a little maple syrup over :) but u can serve with yogurt ( or anything you want )

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 06/08/2012 10:33

Or u can just make normal plain pancakes and heat maple syrup and blueberries in a pan til it goes thick and pour over a la nigella :)

GWenlockMaryLacey · 06/08/2012 10:33

I've just given my 6mo weetabix for the first time and she horsed it down. No fruit or anything. :)

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 06/08/2012 10:39

Our 13 month old will not be fed. He has to eat everything himself!!

At 10 months he was eating (and still does for breakfast) an assortment of either:

Scotch pancakes
Croissants
Crumpets
Toast -with butter, a small smear of jam, or dairylea
Dry cereal like shreddies, Cheerios -also good for snacking on while out and about with
Banana
Apple or
Pear pieces

Ds1 used to love porridge with small chunks of banana in, or yogurt and fruit in a bowl at 10 months (in fact he still does but now he's 5)

Aimeetree · 06/08/2012 14:13

Just because you don't like weetabux, doesn't mean he won't! Grin

RillaBlythe · 06/08/2012 14:16

Mine won't eat breakfast. At all. Too much milk all night methinks Hmm

Bumpsadaisie · 06/08/2012 16:16

My DS is 9mths. He loves brekki and has weetabix with warm milk, banana, and toast.

MeeWhoo · 06/08/2012 20:58

Thanks for the recipe Wheresmycaffeinedrip, and for everybody elses contributions. I am going to try some of your suggestions in the next few days.
Aimeetree, you do have a point, I just don't want to end up with a pack full of the stuff if ds doesn't like it either.
Rilla, with ds i have to wait 1 hour fro m waking up, or he is not interested either, still going strong on the night feeds as well...

Loving this thread!

Does anyone know if you can make pancake batter the night before and just store it in the fridge? As a working mum who loves cooking I dream of having the time to make my DS scrummie brekkies I can join in with but its always a rush during the week. Would be great to have something ready I just have to heat up. Made him mini breakfast muffins this weekend which he loved but found this morning (yes, Monday) DH had scoffed the lot.

Also I'd give weetabix a go. I see what you mean about being stuck with a box of the stuff, but you can get small boxes. Its not like you're getting them a Cartier watch and going "well, I got it, but he just doesn't like the dials..."

BikeRaceRunningRaceNoSkiing · 06/08/2012 21:53

YEs you can make pancake batter the night before. There is a school of thought that considers this to be the correct way of doing it. Do not ever get my mother and my mother in law on the subject.

lepetitchoufleur · 06/08/2012 21:57

Lol Bike! Thanks!

Tangointhenight · 06/08/2012 21:59

OP you have get mini weetabix with strawberry or chocolate, the chocolate makes the milk all chocolatey goes off in search of chocolate but I give DD the strawberry one and she loves it, makes the mill strawberererry!

HappyCamel · 06/08/2012 22:02

Yes, weetabix (I don't like it either but dd does), but also porridge or shreddies. I always serve some fruit too, usually blueberries with strawberries or grapes or banana.

Tangointhenight · 06/08/2012 22:04

Just watch though, too much wheat can bung them up its a very hard thing to digest, weetabix used to give me sore tummy if I ate it everyday, bran and oats are much better.
