Without access to a laptop, PC, ipad, tablet, itouch, ipod, nintendo DS, wii, xbox, leapster, leappad or playstation?

Because it seems that way! Am I depriving him?

If she is HEed there is even more need to use a computer- there is so much useful and wonderful stuff on there- and as the parent you can't provide it all yourself.

yes as a parent who previously home-educated the internet has a whole wealth of info, its great for home ed, mine didnt use it much and was 9ish before they did really but by 11 and as she gets older it will be more important and yes they will be missing out.

My 5.5yo has a DS but rarely plays it tbh. He has limited access to a shared ipod touch but not every day. He plays very occasionally on my ipad - we have a ludo and snakes and ladders app that he enjoys. He does play on the wii but sometimes goes weeks without asking to using it. I don't see a problem to him having experience of gadgets etc as long as he's not reliant on them for entertainment. He loves to read, play outside and make things - he much prefers the real world of cooking, drawing, making stuff, reading, playing board games, practicing writing etc. He also ha no TV in his room and won't for a long while. We do have a portable DVD player that we bought when he broke his arm and other activities were more limited but he barely used it TBH.

Why would you ever want a TV in a bedroom?
