"Odd" your DC's are scared of

DS (3.4) is terrified of "I am a rectangle" on Mr Maker! He says it's the voice that he doesn't like and covers his ears and wants me to cuddle him when that bit comes on - he still watches it though. Grin

Any other unusual fears that other DC's have?

The shape shifter from The NumberJacks - she runs out the room scared stiff

planetpotty · 15/06/2012 20:58

Fluff Hmm

PoppyWearer · 15/06/2012 20:59

The "white one" on Rhyme Rocket.

kat1885 · 15/06/2012 21:00

4yo hand dryers. I think this is going to be a problem when he goes to.school.in September as he runs out the toilet if one is being used.

Pascha · 15/06/2012 21:01

The noisy elephant on the last page of the noisy animal book. He will lift every flap except that one, he hides in my lap instead. No idea why, its no noisier than the others. Confused

wonderstuff · 15/06/2012 21:03

I find all the badies on numberjacks terrifying - is the shape shifter the one with the big white hat? Sinister.

DS is petrified of hand puppets. DH went to read him a book with a furry orange puppet in it yesterday - he crumbled and needed lots of hugs.

Sittinginthesun · 15/06/2012 21:05

Wonder - was it Boris?

QOD · 15/06/2012 21:06

DD aged 3 ish was frightened of post cards ....
Sharks in the carpet

Aged 13 is STILL scared to upstairs alone

PoppyWearer · 15/06/2012 21:07

kat my DD is also petrified of hand dryers. And hairdryers, vacuum cleaners, toilet flushes...anything that makes a noise.

wonderstuff · 15/06/2012 21:08

Yes, was Boris! DD loved puppets, we had a few, DH used to use for stories (not sure who enjoyed them more). Someone at the library today had a dinosaur puppet and he had a proper chin wobble moment when she showed it to him.

Minshu · 15/06/2012 21:15

There is one episode of peppa pig where miss rabbit and mummy rabbit swap roles because miss rabbit hurt her leg (they're sisters - who knew?). Anyway, we have lots of episodes recorded, but DD (2.8) shakes in terror when that one starts. No such problems with other episodes featuring miss rabbit. Bonkers.

She's a sensitive soul though - she got really upset a year ago at an episode of ITNG where the tombliboos lost their trousers...

bruffin · 15/06/2012 21:15

Dd is 14 now, but when little was scared of a cow leaning over fence in the credits of Rosie and Jim,
Theatre curtains
Woods, where trees were wavering in the breeze
Open windows at night

Ds was petrified of a full size samurai warrior figure in Hertford museum.

Minshu · 15/06/2012 21:17

I sent Boris to my cousin's little boy a couple of years ago when he would have been 2 - they're overseas. Hope it didn't have that impact!! Shock

ChunkyPickle · 15/06/2012 21:22

Action Chugger sends him screaming from the room and anything bulbous = - especially if bulbous and filled with gunge - eg. a pod thing on Tree Fu Tom, a pumpkin on Pepper pig makes him grip my hand and edge away... The Pinky Ponk is on the edge of worrying - but he's generally OK with it now.

Bet01 · 15/06/2012 21:27

Popsy my DS is also scared of the Shape Japer from Numberjacks. Bottom lip starts wobbling, eyes fill up, the works. It is a bit bloody scary though, I have to agree with him. He's also scared of the inside of the Ninkynonk. (Outside is fine though).

5madthings · 15/06/2012 21:27

my dd who is 18mths has just recently developed a fear of fish! she loves all furry animal, rabbits, cats, dogs, guinea pigs, rats, hamster and birds, so we often visit the local garden centre so she can see them but if i take her into the fish bit she has a FIT and howls and covers her face, clings onto me etc, no idea why!

my ds4 who is 4 doesnt like hand dryers or loud noises, which i find odd as he is extremely loud himself!

Sittinginthesun · 15/06/2012 21:28

Boris is the most frequently requested book in our school library. Now that the children have realised we can reserve books on the new system, we have a waiting list! Even year 6 borrow it on a regular basis.

5madthings · 15/06/2012 21:29

popsypie tbf the shapeshifter on numberjacks IS creepy, bit like the childcatcher on chitty chitty bang bang! i was terrifed of him and mine have all been scared of him when little as well!

Nuttyprofessor · 15/06/2012 21:30

DS is scared of high ceilings in shops such as b&q. He is 11 and hasn't grown out of it.

Sittinginthesun · 15/06/2012 21:32

Oh, and DS1 was terrified of cars, helicopters, hoovers, the baddies in Numberjacks, dogs, hand dryers and men.

DS2 was scared of any story involving a flood (Percy the engine, Duck in a Truck etc).

My brother was terrified of the ghosts in the Tyfoo Tea advert.

RandomNumbers · 15/06/2012 21:33

DS1 - seaweed

DS2 - Brum

Odd boys the pair of 'em

Grin
Foshizzle · 15/06/2012 21:34

Anna Conda on Gigglebiz.

And fluff.

Hassled · 15/06/2012 21:36

I was terrified of Rupert The Bear (still am, a little bit).

DS1 was terrified of the fluffy seedy things that come out of thistles. He thought they were alive.

PrisonerOfWaugh · 15/06/2012 21:41

DD had a complete wobbler at an episode of The Night Garden where Mr Pontipines mustache flew off - she's never like top lip toupees since.

DS has a love hate relationship with the vacuum cleaner. He hates it switched on, but if it's off and unplugged it has an irresistible draw, he even smuggled one of the accessory heads to bed! - but he is a man of machines Grin
