My DS 2 next month has taken a recent likeing to irish brown soda bread, he can't get enough. I'm not saying its a strange food but not something i would expect i toddler to like.

My DD2 aged 2.8 adores olives!! Especially garlic stuffed and pimento stuffed ones!!!

FebreezeYourJeans · 21/04/2012 22:42

smoked salmon and prawns, expensive tastes for my tiddler.

IHeartKingThistle · 21/04/2012 22:43

Obsessed with chick peas.

PrisonerOfWaugh · 21/04/2012 22:52

Weetabix Confused

Yes to olives and smoked salmon (but emphatically NOT prawns)

Also feta cheese, as much garlic as you can handle and marinated artichokes

Oh and raw pasta Hmm

But then I used to eat dog biscuits, so I guess they don't get their tastes from me!

WhispersOfWickedness · 21/04/2012 22:56

Ooo, mine has loads Smile He has munched his way through olives, Brie and Stilton before. There was also a time he was obsessed with gherkins, we couldn't have them anywhere in sight at mealtimes as all we'd hear was 'gumgar gumgar gumgar' (cucumber) all the way through the meal Hmm

thisisyesterday · 21/04/2012 22:58

ds1's favourite foods as a toddler included olives, mushrooms, tofu and cabbage Confused

he has now, at the grand old age of 7, decided that actually he doesn't like olives after all. but mushrooms and tofu are still his fave meal. odd child.

WhispersOfWickedness · 21/04/2012 22:58

Oh, the raw pasta one has reminded me that he also munched his way through half a raw parsnip at a messy play session last week Confused

KittieCat · 21/04/2012 23:01

DS is obsessed with pulses. Which means he's rather, ahem, 'musical' at times... Also stinky cheese.

He's his mother's son!

thunksheadontable · 21/04/2012 23:08

Hummous and pesto both surprise me, though I know they are just regular foods. Just didn't imagine a toddler going for them. He calls the hummous soup and eats it with a spoon .

FrankWippery · 21/04/2012 23:19

Clams, mussels, oysters (raw), <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=percebes&hl=en&biw=1283&bih=599&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=qvS5_0gF3mWEaM:&imgrefurl=mariscogallego.info/&docid=0s9VLSDnXlj4XM&imgurl=mariscogallego.info/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/percebes.jpg&w=600&h=378&ei=4jGTT4mTKYq20QWUpYXdAQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=106&vpy=187&dur=1292&hovh=178&hovw=283&tx=149&ty=112&sig=100949500415902557656&page=1&tbnh=121&tbnw=174&start=0&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0,i:81" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">percebes sushi.

Olives, thai green curry and blue cheese.

And raw pasta here as well. She would eat an entire packet of the stuff if she could. Hmm

She's just 3.

FrankWippery · 21/04/2012 23:20
  • and sushi, not raw percebes. Although....
strawberrie · 22/04/2012 09:52

Basil leaves, straight off the plant. Freshly ground pepper if she thinks she can get away with it.

olibeansmummy · 22/04/2012 17:26

Chicken madras, reggae reggae sauce, anything extra spicy really. He's another one who enjoys pesto and has recently started having freshly ground black pepper on his tea.

olibeansmummy · 22/04/2012 17:27

Oh and he enjoyed frogs legs in a Vietnamese restaurant but it's not something we have regularly!

choceyes · 22/04/2012 17:34

DS 3.5yrs eats cashew nuts by the bowl full. loves cashew nut butter too.

DD 20months likes avocado, can eat half of one in a sitting. Not unusual, but as my DS doesn't touch anything green except peas, it is unusual in this household!

BornSicky · 22/04/2012 17:38

yes to olives, pesto and anything garlicky, and hummous and pulses.

yesterday he ate stuffed vine leaves and pickled mushrooms with total relish!

he absolutely hates oranges and marmalade and also prawns which he won't even let near his mouth.

WhispersOfWickedness · 22/04/2012 17:44

It's funny isn't it, BornSicky? DS will eat all manner of weird stuff but won't let a mushroom pass his lips Confused

ObviouslyOblivious · 22/04/2012 17:45

Grilled haloumi. He's recently become obsessed with 'deese' and will also kill for cheddar.

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 22/04/2012 17:47

sudocrem Hmm

nkf · 22/04/2012 17:48

I remember watching someone's toddler eat black olives. And being quite amazed.

BornSicky · 22/04/2012 17:50

i think it's the texture of mushrooms whispers. they are a leetle bit slimey!

nom, nom... I can't bear to give my LO halloumi, otherwise I may never, ever get to eat it again.... he's a cheese monster and yesterday (with his antipasti Hmm ), also wolfed down pont l'evec (extremely smelly french cheese). so far, there is no cheese he won't eat, so i fear for my halloumi! Wink

OctopusSting · 22/04/2012 17:54

Grapefruit, olives, sauerkraut, raw mushrooms, prawns, fresh sardines (still with eyes in), pesto, chickpeas.

They were quite 'surprised' by the wasabi peas earlier and didn't come back for a second helping......

wonkylegs · 22/04/2012 17:55

Blue cheese ... DS has been obsessed with it since he was 1 (now 4), current obsessed fav's are Shropshire and Yorkshire blue - although also big fan of St Agur (but that's green mummy)

ObviouslyOblivious · 22/04/2012 17:59

DS does the Finger Test? any suspicious food. I'm not too sure what the parameters are of the Finger Test? but I do know that:

  1. Foods may be Tested more than once per meal.
  2. Just because a food has passed the Test many times, it is not exempt from the Test and it may fail at any time. Even of it was successful earlier in the same meal.

I gave him some pickled beetroot earlier. It did not pass the Test. He indicated that his whole day had been ruined.

spidermanspiderman · 22/04/2012 20:28

Whole grain mustard and horse radish dd keeps asking for more whenever she sees them. Also eats the olives, smoked salmon etc and loves spicy food. She is only 2.
