'If you eat the bits in your yoghurt it will kill you' .........

Said my ds to another little boy at preschool today. They have taken it really seriously and had to tell the mum of the boy he said it to as he was really upset and refused to eat his yoghurt.

Apparantly my ds said it again and again and again....... the poor chap was distraught.

My ds is a confident little chap and has his own following at pre school, if he had said it to one of the other more robust boys they would have just said something like 'If you eat bread your head will fall off' but this one is a bit of a sensitive soul and so is him Mum, whi is probably upset.

I do have her number as they've had play dates before but I don't know her that well. Should I call her or leave it?

well all I can say is that a little girl hit dd1 one morning at school and the mum rang me at work and was so nice and apologetic...I thought it was lovely of her.

starlover · 09/02/2006 19:45

sorry, but i can't help but laugh at that!
i wouldn't call her... i'd leave it.

little boys do say things like that.. he hasn't done anything wrong IMO

Enid · 09/02/2006 19:46

if he was distraught then I would ring her, yes

Enid · 09/02/2006 19:47

'little boys do say things like that'

i too loll ed
sorry

northerner · 09/02/2006 19:48

I know I had to stifle some egiggles when they were telling me.

If I do call her what on earth do I say?

The supervisor had written 'Killer Yoghurt' next to ds's name on the clipboard to remind herself to talk to me

Yes Cod just last week when ds was jumping off the toilet seat and landing very near to our ceramic bath we had the following conversation:

me: Don't do that honey - you might slip and bang your head
ds: Yes, I might split my head open. Thinks for a while, then what's inside your head Mummy?
me: your brain
ds: (whilst climbing back on toilet seat to jump off again) Yes, my head will crack open and my brain will fall out.

Lovely. But yes Enid, boys do say things like that!

On Monday my ds was hit by another child with a toy at nursery, we spent the evening in a and e and he has a black eye and corneal abrasion, needing antibiotic eye cream for a week. The parents haven't even acknowledged it, although the mother was staring at his eye yesterday. I would have appreciated a phone call to show the parents have dealt with it.. Maybe you could call and explain that you have spoken to your ds about it, althought what your son said wouldn't affect most children it obviously affected her ds.

nitfreecod · 09/02/2006 19:53

think killer yogurt wodul be a good new postign name

northerner · 09/02/2006 19:54

Hmmmm. Debating making call.......

More importantly, I love the idea of changing my name to killer yoghurt.

starlover · 09/02/2006 19:55

nah don't bother!

Enid · 09/02/2006 19:58

my dd says things like that too (the brain thing)

but I would be unhappy if I knew she had deliberately upset another child whatever she said - saying it again and again and again when a child is upset is horrid whatever sex you are.

IMO.

Enid · 09/02/2006 19:58

boys get away with a load of crap IMO

northerner · 09/02/2006 20:01

Yes I know. I did talk to ds about it tonight and explained it's not nice to upset people. He promised he won't do it again and said he will say sorry tomorrow.

Not sure if it warrants a call to his mum though.

Enid · 09/02/2006 20:02

no well that depends on the 'school ethos' I suppose

I probably wouldn't bother either (ringing)

but would give A Talk.

nitfreecod · 09/02/2006 20:03

odd they told you who it was

spek tot he mum in a cheery chatty way whhn you next see her

blondehelen · 09/02/2006 20:03

maybe you could catch the mum tomorrow, or get ds to write a letter to the boy to say sorry, then at least the mum will see it and that you have addressed it

nitfreecod · 09/02/2006 20:04

a letter?
larks!
id put your ds inthe stocks

northerner · 09/02/2006 20:04

I thought it was odd too. Even odder they told her whoi had upset her son. They didn't need to name him surely?

Won't call her cause she's prone to dramatising so will leave it.

OP posts:
northerner · 09/02/2006 20:06

A letter? He' only 3! Can't even write his name.

Maybe I should give him lines:

I must not tell people yougurts can kill x 100

OP posts:
Enid · 09/02/2006 20:07

you are even making me lol over it now northerner

deffo dont ring if she is a drama queen
