HELP, she's rolling already!

DD2 is 8 weeks old on Sat. She sleeps in her Moses basket right next to our bed. This morning, I woke to find her sleeping on her side! She'd rolled that way. She's been able to roll onto her side whilst awake for a week or so now.

I'm terrified of cot death and she's always been placed on her back to sleep.

Is she now at increased risk of SIDS?

Expat hannah can roll too and back again thankfully but I still use those antiroll things you can buy. Or I was told you can roll up two towels either side and then put a sheet over them as hannah prefers to sleep on her side. Hope you are not stressing too much.

I'm in the Edinburgh area, Latz

Nemo, I ordered one of those gizmos from JoJoMaman for her.

I really can't believe her rolling already. Thought we had more time!

It's pretty cute to see, tho.

it is cute but also scarey like you said.
Adam was physically quick but he was 9wks before he rolled hanah is 7wks just hope she doesnt walk etc earlier than he did as it was bad enough adam being 8.5mths..lol

Nemo1977 · 06/02/2006 22:35

meant to say the jojomaman one is like the one we have but ours is shaped like 2 ducks for some reason. We bought when adam was a baby and found it very reassuring so have used it from birth with hannah.

DD2 holds her head very well. She also sits pretty straight. DD1 didn't sit till she was 8 months! She didn't walk till 22 months - although she runs everywhere now and climbs, climbs, climbs on anything.

My dd could also roll at 7 weeks!. In Fact she used to wiggle like crazy until she was on her side with her head twisted right up and looking at the top of the moses basket. she would spend a good 10 mins getting into this position and then go straight to sleep. a couple of weeks later she could get on to her tummy and has slept like this ever since. she is now seven months and almost crawling. she seems very strong and very active so she obviously just felt more comfortable sleeping like this. I never sleep on my back either so perhaps she takes after her mum. Dont stress, if she seems to prefer this position then im sure it will be fine. apparently dummies help prevent sids so you could try that if it re assures you.

Yikes, sounds like you gonna have your hands full.
My dts were agile early on, maybe they built up muscles fighting with each other. They soon learned to roll, and by about 4 months were rolling all over the place, crawling at 7 months and now starting to walk at 10 months. You'll need eyes in the back of your head!

Swaddling or grobags helped mine stay on their backs for a while, but from about 6 months they were both front sleepers. I couldn't do anything about it, and they strong enough to turn over again in any case.
