hi 7's
Your ds seems to be having a well balanced diet
I think mine is a right pig

breakfast - bowl of cereal, extra cup of milk
half piece of toast with butter
snack on banana or bit of bread roll, cup of well diluted juice
lunch - pasta with chicken, peas .. or something similar, w d juice
snack on some biscuits or fruit, yogurt drink
dinner - meat and veg with rice, w d juice
maybe another bit of bread, roll or something
She is 2 now, but she used to drink lots and lots of milk

FrayedKnot · 01/02/2006 18:56

Doesn't he have a milk substitute?

How old is he btw? Presumably quite small still if having baby food?

Rhubarb · 01/02/2006 18:58

They won't starve, if he was hungry he would eat. All toddlers go through growth spurts when they eat lots, but then they can seemingly go for days on just bits of toast and fruit. If his weight is fine then he is fine. Don't worry!

My 22 month old ds has:
Breakfast - one weetabix with one mashed banana with full fat milk and a beaker of milk which he only drinks half off (he has the rest at mid morning).
Lunch - cheese sandwich, or cheese on toast or scrambled egg on toast and yoghurt
Dinner - whatever we have so pasta or meat and veg, or shepherds pie etc.
He has lots of water throughout the day

Is your DS on Soya Milk?

Is your DS on Soya Milk?

tortoiseshell · 01/02/2006 19:01

Ds (4) has cereal for breakfast, sometimes an apple at break, milk at break, packed lunch (sandwich), pasta for tea. That sort of thing.

Twiglett · 01/02/2006 19:02

a 2 year old should be averaging 11 tablespoons of food a day and will probably only eat one 'proper' meal in 48 hours

average food consumption over a week .. do not worry if some days they eat other days they don't

count all food consumed ... snacks as well as 'meals'

HTH

7's love. My DD was 1 a week ago. Today she ate:

8oz Cows Milk
Breakfast - 1 1/2 weetabix with cows milk
Snack - 1 rice cake, 3 mini bread sticks
Lunch - Cauliflower Cheese from that Annabel Karmel book. Got shed loads in the freezer
Sultanas
Rice Cake
Tea- Ham sandwich, Yoghurt
8oz Milk

She is a pig. She would eat all day if I let her. If you have food in your mouth she tries to get her fingers in to claw it out. My ds ate hardly anything at this age, and lived off those disgusting frankfurters for 6 months. They're all different chick x

nulnulcat · 01/02/2006 19:11

think my dd overeats!! average day weetabix yoghurt and fruit for bfast midmorning cheese and breadsticks few chocolate buttons lunch soup and bread or sandwich with crisps then fruit mid afternoon biscuit with fruit tea main meal whatever im having usually a big plate ful which she polishes off with desert then before bed a drink and biscuit! she may miss bfast somedays but i dont worry as she makes up for it!

nulnulcat · 01/02/2006 19:11

she is 2.2

rarrie · 01/02/2006 19:18

Mine is a little greedy guts (yet is still in the smallest 10% of her age!) she has:

Brekkie: 1 whole weetabix. Sometimes an extra half, or a slice of toast at nursery.

Mid morning snack of a piece of fruit. Cna eat a medium sized apple or pear or equivalent at this time.

Lunch: A hot meal. About a third of an adult bowl.

Afternoon snack: Cheese, crumpets etc.

Tea: An egg and bread soldiers or pasta or something. Nothing too heavy.

Supper: Porridge or 2 weetabix - whatever she didn't have for breakfast.

However, we are veggie, so she eats far more fruit and veg than most normal kids do, so I think she needs filling up with nutrition more!!

7777777 · 01/02/2006 19:21

he on calcium supplement, cant have any soya, 16months old, has baby jars still coz i bumpf them up with pots and veg so its not too bland and sweet jar instead of yoghurt

Could he have porridge with rice milk or water for b/fast?

saadia · 01/02/2006 19:28

My 22mth ds has

Morning: 8oz milk, one toast with butter and jam and maybe a few bites of banana

Lunch: Few bites of sandwich (cheese/cucumber) or pizza or omelette with bread or pasta and sauce. Only seems to have a few bites.
Dessert: yogurt and fruit

Late afternoon: 6-8oz milk

Dinner: varies, sometimes just two or three bites, sometimes more of whatever we're having.

Dessert: yogurt

Has fruit juice once a day and water.

alliep30 · 01/02/2006 19:30

7's. My lovely chum who posts on here has to sneak food into a washed out jar before her dd will eat it. She's a knowing little beggar.. Babies can live off nowt sometimes. You've got enough to worry about with his intolerances.. Adding veg and stuff is a great idea x

nulnulcat · 01/02/2006 19:33

rarrie im glad im not the only one whose child wont stop eating i was worrying as most of my friends kids of the same age hardly eat anything! she is a very active child which is why i think the volume of food doesnt affect her size!

cloe2jay · 01/02/2006 19:35

Is he allergic to soya as well then?

alliep30 · 01/02/2006 19:36

they're all different. My niece is 19 days older and eats half the amount.. my baby eats more than my 4 yr old niece.. !!! It's metabolism etc.. they also say veg etc is empty calories and shed loads of milk makes them porkers..

7777777 · 01/02/2006 19:42

apparently allergic to soya also

7's my nephew (4.5) is allergic to dairy, and until recently soya also.

Any questions let me know, I will ask my dsis.

It's been hard for her, you have my sympathy.

He has rice dream milk substitute, "pure" spread, etc.
