Are most five year old boys this silly/annoying?

Ds1 is 5.8 and seems to be getting progressively sillier. Examples of this are saying silly words (willybooly, bumwackers etc) and finding it hilarious, and pulling really stupid faces, which, although I know he is just playing, I find really hard to be patient with. He seems to think that me and dh will also find this stuff funny, when actually it is just really irritating.

Are your five year olds like this, or has mine got a problem?

My Ds is nearly four and he is already silly/annoying and when he has playdates they spend most of there time being silly such as pulling faces and calling each other willyface and sillybum etc. I think you just have a typical boy, my godson is seven and he is still like that, i think it's just part of having a boy.

BellaBearisWideAwake · 21/02/2012 16:52

Sounds just like my 4.1yo. He repeats what i say only replacing each syllable with 'poo'

smartiesrule · 21/02/2012 16:56

My DS is 5.4 and is finding certain words increasingly funnier. Like bum. And bottom. And poo. Oh, and he takes great delight in waggling his bits around when he gets changed. He seems to think it is hillarious, suffice to say I don't. The more I ignore him, the more he does it!

smartiesrule · 21/02/2012 17:00

That should say 'The more I ignore his behaviour', not actually him.

Fishlegs · 21/02/2012 17:00

Yes! Mine's around the same age as yours, and he drives me up the wall with similar stuff.

Tbf, if I feign great amusement when he starts, he gets very pleased with himself but soon gets bored and does something else. When I acted out my irritation he carried on for hours.

fattybum · 21/02/2012 17:05

We do join in with the silly words sometimes, but other times I just want to say "SHUT UP"! I can hear him and ds2 in the bath now saying willybooly and other silly words in a high pitched voice, ds2 finding it hilarious. There is a limit to how much I can hear of it, particularly when he is with his friends and it just seems non-stop!

Oh no, so it goes on til at least 7?!

My ds is 6 and he is exactly like this! It gets 100x worse when he is with his friends and they all find each other hilarious. Unfortunately, dd1, who is 3, is already copying it!

The3Bears · 21/02/2012 17:08

Yes, my ds is 5 and does this all the time. Since he started school I just think its what hes heard all the other boys doing in the playground or something.

ElectricSoftParade · 21/02/2012 17:08

Sorry to say but my DS is now 7.5 and still finds all of the above hilarious.

I do not .

Mind you, I prefer it to my DD who is 5 going on 15 .

Said it on another thread, will say it here...

Boys will be boys!!

My ds is exactly the same!

Grin @ HopeForTheBest 's observation!

arghmyear · 21/02/2012 18:09

My DS is almost 6. He would find it funny.

Today when watching "Mr Bloom" on cbeebies, he called him Mr Poo-m and laughed.

leftmymistletoeatthedoor · 21/02/2012 18:15

Ds is 5 and would find it all beyond hilarious.

QED · 21/02/2012 18:18

DS is 8 and still finds that sort of thing funny. So does DD who is 6. There is no end in sight really.

shockers · 21/02/2012 18:23

And to thoroughly depress you, DS (11) still loves to waggle his bits in a circular motion when exiting the bathroom after a shower Grin

Tgger · 21/02/2012 20:33

Yes, DS 5.4 is a lot sillier now than he was a year ago. He gets quite hyper and I find myself saying "you need to calm down" and "are you listening to me?" rather a lot Grin. Hey ho!

NoVeggiesBeforeSkeggies · 21/02/2012 20:37

I am 30 and just snorted at "bumwackers" Blush

Tooblunt2012 · 21/02/2012 20:41

My eldest is 5.3 & is very similar to whats described above. He didn't used to do this but since starting Reception has become this way! Now my 3.4 year old DS finds it hilarious & tries to copy!

FortynotFat · 21/02/2012 20:43

my dh is 44 and still laughs at the word 'log' amongst others

PeanutButterChocolate · 21/02/2012 20:44

My little boys are 5 and 7. It's NON-STOP poo, bum, penis, fart jokes here. When does it end????

Don't answer that.

shockers · 21/02/2012 20:54

Dh's (45) favourite ditty is "A penis, a penis, the greatest gift that I possess... I thank the Lord that I've been blessed, with more than my share of a penis"

And him a vicar's son Shock.

TheAvocado · 21/02/2012 20:56

I have two small boys. Fortunately, they have helped me rediscover how amusing toilet humour is. :o

SharkBite · 21/02/2012 20:57

Can you shorten your OP to 'Are most five year olds this silly/annoying?'

DD1 (5.3) and DD2 (3.6) think these words are hilarious. I mainly ignore it, other than at the table.

They mainly ignore me

ShipsCat · 21/02/2012 21:26

Sounds just like my 6yo DTSs

musttidyupmusttidyup · 21/02/2012 21:38

Snorted my wine at BellaBear
Am somewhat suicidal disappointed at the news this will last for YEARS. DS1 (nearly 5) has got so much worse since he started school and brings home lots nice gems for DS2 (3). 'what eats poo mummy'. Flies! Flies eat fucking poo for the 6 millionth time.
