Ds goes on and on and on - this week maily about theme park rides, before that it was the Polar Express. He can talk almost non-stop from the time he comes home from school, despite me encouraging him to talk about something else for a change. I worry that he is boring (he bores me) and wonder if it is anything to do with autism (he is going through a long and slow diagonosis) or if all 5 year olds talk obsessively.

Ds 4.5 will talk about anything and everything and if you dare to try and speed up the conversation or butt in in any way he gets in a terrible strop and says 'I'll have to start again now!'....and on it goes!!

My 6 year old is the same and it is about star wars, in great detail has been like that since he was 3 .but it also seems to be when he meets new people he will do it too to cover his nervousness

That's interesting, I dont think it is nervousness in ds's case though, he generally only does it when he is with people he is very comfortable with.

Be careful with reading too much into it though, once your child gets labelled and the health professionals get interested they are hard to get rid of and love to intervene in peoples family life. It might be just that your child loves rabbiting on, some adults do it and they are not all dyspraxic or autistic just chatterboxes(in some cases)

an occupational therapist ook my son chattering on about muhammed ali and boxers as a fixation to violence, I got her told though, I was furious, as she could not even get his name right
