Fiddling with his boys bits

evansmummy · 06/01/2006 21:01

My wonderful ds has just turned one and a few weeks ago discovered his bits. He now will not leave them alone. Every time he's naked he's pulling on his little willy and fiddling with it all! Obvioulsy I don't really mind, it's all part of discovering what he's made of! But I'm worried about him hurting himself, and about when to tell him to stop! Any advice?

I would ignore it.

hercules · 06/01/2006 21:03

Just ignore it.

starlover · 06/01/2006 21:03

if he hurts himself he'll stop! lol

my ds does it too, he's only 10 montjhs.... it's just what boys do!

busybusybee · 06/01/2006 21:04

DS is 4 and thinks his is great fun

The best thing to do IMHO is distract him and ignore - if he realises you dont like it he will probably do it even more HTH

Nightynight · 06/01/2006 21:19

it was my dss' fave toy as well at that age. Id just ignore it too.

WigWamBam · 06/01/2006 21:23

If it hurts, he'll stop. Just ignore it - the more you fuss, the more he'll play with it.

Mercy · 06/01/2006 21:27

He will be doing this for the rest of his life!

There's nothing you can do about it. Although it does make me feel queasy when they really pull at it. Little girls can be just as curious though.

tensing · 06/01/2006 21:40

Sorry to say they all do it.

When they are tiny it is normally only when they are naked and so can see it.

When they reach teenage, they discover putting their hands down their trousers and holding it. Or just continually rearranging it checking it is still there.

edam · 06/01/2006 21:44

Makes my eyes water when ds pulls his... he really stretches it. Doesn't seem to bother him, though, merely amuses him.

colditz · 06/01/2006 21:48

When my ds was 6 mo, he sat up naked for the first time, and because he was such a porker, it was the first time he had seen his todger.

Well, his little eyebrows shot up, he reached down to grab it, shocked himself and fell flat on his back like a tortoise and couldn't get up again!

I helped him after mopping up the puddle I left on the floor...

how funny colditz!my ds likes a tug when his nappy is off. my elder one used to really stretch his when a toddler. he now 11 and yes he checks its there and has hand down trousers constantly!

Ronniebaby · 06/01/2006 22:13

my dh is 35 and he ain't stopped fiddling with his.

My ds1 is 5 and he still plays with his, he loves to be naked.

MarsLady · 06/01/2006 22:21

DS1 has always fiddled with his bits. Well actually not as much as his father fiddles with his own bits, but I think it's a boy thing.

DT2 loves his bits. As soon as his vest is removed his hands zoom in on his bits. I think that boys hands were meant to be on their bits!

MarsLady · 06/01/2006 22:23

oh and I love the phrase "boys bits" lol

longwaytogo · 06/01/2006 22:30

ds 20 months now pulls his, laughs and says willie at that point dd nearly 3 cant resist to have a look and a fiddle as well. Was really funny when he was squatted in the bath yesterday having a wee looking at it and laughing his head off. They are so sweet aren't they!

MarsLady · 06/01/2006 22:32

my friend's dd once asked her brother if he could lick it! lol

pookey · 06/01/2006 22:34

My 5 month old always has one hand over his and and his other hand in his mouth at bath time . He squeezed his bits so hard the other night he left a read mark

LeahE · 06/01/2006 23:12

Someone on another board I'm on reported that her two-year-old had started shouting "GOODBYE PENIS!" when his nappy was put back on after a change...

DS has been fiddling with his whenever he gets the chance since he was about 3 months old.

ambercat · 06/01/2006 23:23

ds1 3 at the time in the bath with afriends dd of the same age,
she says to him "it looks like a whistle ,can i blow it!"

RachD · 06/01/2006 23:33

From previous threads I have read, this sounds completely normal.
Ds, nearly 2, has been quite obsessed with is from about 9 mths.
He will try and rub himself against my leg, all the time.
HV assured me this was nothing to worry about.

kaansmum · 06/01/2006 23:48

My DS aged 5 and a half now won't leave his willy alone - if ever he is relaxing, watchng TV or listening to a story etc his hand will go stright down his trousers. However, in my opinion he is simply starting as he means to go on - aren't all men the same - willy obsessed!

evansmummy · 07/01/2006 11:12

Thanks. And you have so made me laugh with all your replies!

Love the name btw evansmummy. My first posting name here was similar!

BudaBabe · 07/01/2006 11:16

My DS (4) is the same - constantly at it! Has now taken to stripping off and shaking his bits singing "I like to move it move it, I like to move it move it"!!! I find it hilarious but DH is a bit of a prude and doesn't!

TinyGang · 07/01/2006 11:24

Ds (4) was thoughtfully sat with his hand down his trousers and a faraway glazed look at his older sisters school carol-concert!
