Anyone else got a dd who... well, it's a little embarrassing

She's 2, and for the last year she's got herself off to sleep at night by lying on her front and kind of humping her hand. She also does it if she's very tired or in some kind of physical pain. I don't think there's anything we can do about it - but it would be nice to know that she's not the only one!

my mate's dd gets naked alot (so does my ds1) and she pokes herself and rubs herself alot.
he mum tells her that it is ok to do it, but she should do it "in private", no real hassles, but just tries to remind her when she starts! i think it is pretty normal. ds1 remains totally un moved, hasn't really noticed about genitals. at the moment he seems to be more interested in talking about things that do and things that don't have wheels for some reason

hercules · 17/12/2005 22:53

this is a first time poster.

merrySOAPBOXingday · 17/12/2005 22:54

Hmmmmmmmmm!

SackAche · 17/12/2005 22:54

oh yeah my friends wee girl 'grinds' all the time!

Hercules - I don't think its a particularly weird post though.

santagotstuckOOPSthechimney · 17/12/2005 22:54

ooooh hope it turns out nice again....

baublerock · 17/12/2005 22:55

Everyone was a first time poster once!!

I have boys but the little girl I used to look after did this on her beanbag often and she would go off into a trance - I think it's quite common.

hercules · 17/12/2005 22:58

sorry but dont buy it. I really hate accusing people of being a troll but isnt this typical of troll behaviour. Posters normally conrtibute to an existing thread before starting a less personal one of their own.

SackAche · 17/12/2005 22:59

Hercules - I didn't! My first post on here was about my PND.

merrySOAPBOXingday · 17/12/2005 23:00

I'm with Hercules on this one - people don't usually start with a thread of this nature if they are genuine first time posters.

But you each can make your own assessment and decide for yourselves what to post

merrySOAPBOXingday · 17/12/2005 23:01

Well quite Sackache - it wasn;t about your love affair with a vibrator though, was it!

PrincessPlumPuddingHead · 17/12/2005 23:01

this is SUCH a dodgy post.

remember it is saturday night girls, there are a lot of bored sad pissed blokes out there looking for a wind up

hercules · 17/12/2005 23:09

must have passed out now!

Nightynight · 17/12/2005 23:10

I find the style of this post a little odd, and not similar to previous posts from mothers about this sort of behaviour from their children.

wheresmyfroggy · 17/12/2005 23:12

The poster might have stumbled across MN whilst trying to find out whether this was typical behaviour (so their first post would be to start this thread)!?!? going for them on the third post of a thread when they haven't even had a chance to respond to any constructive posts is a bit harsh

Choccers · 17/12/2005 23:14

Hello all - just checked again before going to bed not expecting a deluge of messages already - thanks for the reassurance those of you who have seen this behaviour already, I feel reassured. I also killed myself laughing reading the suspicions to my husband about being a 'troll' - I think I can imagine what that might be! and I'm not! I have actually posted about three times before, on breastfeeding and nappies, but it over a very long time period so you maybe won't have noticed. I can understand your concerns given the subject matter! Oops - long message!

OP posts:
hercules · 17/12/2005 23:15

oops

huge apology. Didnt check archives!

again big apology.

PrincessPlumPuddingHead · 17/12/2005 23:16

giving the benefit of the doubt to someone who posts this saying "I don't want any advice, just tell me that all your children do it too" is just dumb.

sorry!

hercules · 17/12/2005 23:17

yes, that makes sense pph.

Choccers · 17/12/2005 23:17

No apology needed - it is a rather dodgy subject I know!

OP posts:
merrySOAPBOXingday · 17/12/2005 23:17

Sorry Choccers!! although not regular, is not untypical topics for a late Saturday night poster! I hope you forgive some of us for being a little suspicious

wheresmyfroggy · 17/12/2005 23:17

Hey herc i had assumed you had checked when you said 'first time poster'...........Poor choccers!!!

hercules · 17/12/2005 23:18

shame on you all for assuming i'd checked archived!

PrincessPlumPuddingHead · 17/12/2005 23:18

no apology from me - first time or fourth time I still think this thread is dodgy

merrySOAPBOXingday · 17/12/2005 23:18

Ah but, better safe than sorry as they say

baublerock · 17/12/2005 23:21
