mine goes about 8 ish on a school night, but he doesnt always want to go to sleep and tries to keep me talking!

Tortington · 30/11/2005 21:43

7pm

Bozza · 30/11/2005 21:51

DS is 4.9 and he has lights out at 7.30 and is always asleep within minutes. He is allowed to get up at 7 but sometimes sleeps later than this although not much leeway on 7 on the days I work. I cannot see this changing any time soon because he really needs that sleep.

notasheep · 30/11/2005 22:09

7pm too

crimbocrazydazy · 30/11/2005 22:10

DD is 5 and goes at 8.00 on school nights. Is pointless trying to get her in bed any earlier as she is just not ready for it. DS (3) needs his bed at 7.00 to 7.30 and no later

NutcrackingXmas · 30/11/2005 22:16

My kids all go at 7.30 (ages 8, 6 and 3).

The 8 yr old reads then until about 8.30.

thundercat · 01/12/2005 08:09

My ds (5) goes to bed at about 9 and is asleep by 9.30 which sounds incredibly late compared to everyone else. However, we don´t live in UK and compared to my friends here, they can´t believe how early my ds goes to bed! When I tell them that most kids are in bed asleep by 8 in Uk they are incredulous and can´t imagine how you do it.

JingleShells · 01/12/2005 08:40

DS 7 goes to bed at 8pm, lights out and straight alseep. gets up around 7-7.30am.

dazedandconfusedmum · 01/12/2005 12:03

My 6 year old is in bed at 6.30pm. Gets up whenever his brothers wake him!!! If he is left alone he gets up at 7am.

pfer · 01/12/2005 12:32

DS1 (4 in Jan) goes to bed at.......wait for it. ...............................7.45pm up stairs to clean teeth etc and bed at 8pm!! Is that too late? He's not tired before then and he doesn't wake up or get up till about 7.30am most days. Maybe he doesn't need that much sleep - never was a great sleeper.

deckthehillswithboughsofmummy · 01/12/2005 16:14

Pfer must admit DD 4 in feb has her bath, story and milk at 7.30 in bed for 8 and then gets up at 6. Thats all the sleep she seems to need If i put her up any earlier we get woken up earlier.

albert · 01/12/2005 16:25

DS goes to bed 7.30ish, he's 5.5 but we just moved to Brazil (don't know the 'normal time here yet, not been here long enough to find other Mums yet) from Italy where the kids go to bed 10.30-11.00. Other Mums were always asking me how I did it and my answer was always 'I'm his Mum and I tell him when to go!'...not really that difficult is it!

Hadalifeonce · 01/12/2005 16:42

My 5 yo in bed about 7:15-7:30 lights out and usually asleep within 15 mins. He gets up between 7:00am and 7:30am usually.

Easy · 01/12/2005 16:49

My ds is 6, and normally we start getting ready for bed at about 7, lights out between 8 and 8:15 (he reads to himself often after our story).

He gets up before 7 each morning, so I don't want to put him to bed any earlier (I'm an owl, and find having conversations about Leonardo da Vinci difficult at 6:45 a.m.).

On bonfire night we went to a party and he stayed up with us until midnight. He was still awake by 8:30 tho'

Easy · 01/12/2005 16:50

Meant to say, he's usually asleep within 10 mins of lights-out.

eefs · 01/12/2005 17:08

ds1 (5) in bed by 8, story read and lights out by 8:10 - he's up at 7am usually.
DS2 (almost 2) in bed by 7, up at 6:30 - 7am. 11 hours sleep is plenty at that age.

I'm looking forward to putting DS2 to bed later when he can handle it (he's falling asleep by 7 most nights) as I work until 5 so don't have a lot of time to spend with them in the evenings.

eefs · 01/12/2005 17:09

sorry - 11 hours plenty for DS1, I think 11-12 hours is good going for a 2yr old.

Roobietherednosedreindeer · 02/12/2005 13:34

We start the bedtime process at 6pm (DD is 3.7, ds is 7mths) and they are both installed in bed by 7pm at the latest. I'm hoping this will continue until they are teenagers!
The darker nights are great as it seems later than it is - I can sometimes get the bath going at 5pm without dd realising

twirlingaroundthechristmastree · 02/12/2005 13:43

For my six year old it's bedtime at 7.30pm (but no lights off rule), mostly she's asleep by 8pm, and she generally wakes up naturally at 7am, or quite often earlier. She naturally sleeps for about 10.5 hours, which I think is on the low side of average for her age from what I remember

Kidstrack2 · 02/12/2005 19:26

Ds is 6 and he has rountine of Bath, Book and then bed, he goes to bed at 7pm same as dd who is 2, they both wake about 7.15am. It works well for us. They stay up to 8.00pm on fri and sat and get up same as before 7.15am.
