In our house, on a school night, bath 6.30, bed 7pm for spellings, stories, chat. Lights out 7.30pm. She sometimes listens to a story tape but is usually out for the count within minutes of her light going out!

Mistymoo · 30/11/2005 17:21

We have a 5.5 yr old who goes to bed between 8 and 8.30 and gets up at about 7.30. Not sure if that's good or bad.

flamesparrow · 30/11/2005 17:22

Does it not depend on what time they went to bed at 5, 4 etc?

stitch · 30/11/2005 17:22

730

KBearthePolarBear · 30/11/2005 17:22

Alot depends on the child too. My DD is EXHAUSTED after her school day and is very ready for bed. Others might not be.

Blandmum · 30/11/2005 17:22

My almost six year old is bed at 7 and fast asleep by 7.30 most nights, but we do get up at six.

daisy1999 · 30/11/2005 17:29

my 6 yr old in bed for 8, reads until 8.30 up at 7.30am

piffle · 30/11/2005 17:33

My ds was in bed for 7pm, read with him for 20 mins then lights out. He did often go earlier, he seemed to need more sleep than some other kids the same age who would easily stay up til 8pm.

Enid · 30/11/2005 18:08

in bed for a story at 6.45 fast asleep by 7.15 at the latest (on school nights). She stays up to watch a vid with me on a Friday night so goes to bed at 8pm

Enid · 30/11/2005 18:09

I have to wake her at 7am in the morning

walkinginawinterBundleland · 30/11/2005 18:11

dd1 is 5.5 and goes around 7.30 but often is still awake at 8.30...

I was talking to someone recently whose DD "won't go to bed before 10, 10.30 in the week and is often up until midnight on a Saturday".

I didn't know what to say so I just said "oh really".

!!!

LoveMyGirls · 30/11/2005 18:27

DS1 is 6, lights out around 7.30pm but very variable when he goes to sleep. He can be asleep very quickly or bouncing about until after 9.30pm. It seems to take him a while to wind down which is how I justify not putting him to bed later.....

Twiglett · 30/11/2005 18:40

DS is 4.9

bath at 7.20 followed by about 20 mins computer stories / games with Daddy followed by 10 mins story followed by nightlight

he sometimes is asleep by 8.30 .. he has been known to still be wurbling to himself at 10.30

he normally gets up at 8am but has been known to sleep in at the weekends till 9.30

Passionflowerinapeartree · 30/11/2005 18:56

All three DD's (5, nearly 4 and nearly 2) bed 7pm. I usually have to wake them at 7am. Weekends they have been known to lie in till 8.30am.

KBearthePolarBear · 30/11/2005 20:20

Lovemygirls - I don't know her that well and I didn't want to sound all know-all by saying "my children go to bed at 7.30 blah, blah, they do as they are told unlike your DD who obviously rules you"! I thought best say nothing!

SNOWaMANda · 30/11/2005 20:28

My dd is 6 and is upstairs at 645 and lights out for 7. She's always asleep minutes later. We're up at 6.30 though.

BudaBabe · 30/11/2005 20:31

DS is 4 and goes up at 8.20 - any earlier and he wakes around 5.30am!! He is generally asleep by around 8.45 or so and wakes around 6.45/7.

HRHQoQ · 30/11/2005 20:34

We have 5yr old and 2yr old (sound wierd saying that - used to him being 1) they both to go to bed 8pm (ish - depending how organised - or not - I am) everynight - regardless of whether it's a school night or not. DS1 then wakes up at around 7.30 - and DS2 around 8.30

NannyL · 30/11/2005 20:41

depends on the child but most 6 year olds i know are in bed lights out around 7.30 ish.... some a little earlier and some a little later.

zebratwizzler · 30/11/2005 21:05

DS1 settles into bed around 8-8:30. He'd be getting up at 6:15am if I put him to bed at 7:30. No THANKS....!

roisin · 30/11/2005 21:20

DS2 (6.5) goes to bed at 6, lights out at 7; usually asleep with half an hour. He wakes between 7 - 7.20 am.

mummyhill · 30/11/2005 21:22

Lovemygirls - In my house they would probably go up no later than 8. The real answer should be when they are told to go to bed!!! Can't beleive someone who allows the child to dictate their own bed time.
