Mine will be 16 months, 3 and 4.9 at Xmas. Struggling for ideas but just seen a 'my first scaletrix' which I thought might be good for the older two.

GDG - just back from TK Maax and they have lots of playmobil including the pirate ship - the big one that sells for around £70. Its reduced to £29.99 in tk maax.

They have lots of other playmobile sets from big to large most around 1/2 price. However teh really big sets are all reduced to £29.99.

If you do want to make the investment in a pirate ship then I think it is a good price. In fact the used sets on ebay often sell for more than this

Gobbledispook · 16/10/2005 17:03

Wow really? Thanks for that - I might go to ours tomorrow and see. It's an out of town one rather than city centre so I hope they have it. Got ds2's b'day in November too.

I swithered for ages as to whether just to buy one for you and then post it on or sell it on ebay if you didn;t want it. But I thought the postage would be rather a lot as it is quite a big set!

Gobbledispook · 16/10/2005 17:21

Oh, I definitely would have had it! You're right though, the postage could have been high. I'll try and get down there tomorrow and see if they have them - I didn't know TK Maxx did toys.

Thanks for thinking of me though - that's really nice of you

GDk, I nearly bought a "my first scaletrix" a few years ago but when I actually looked at it in the shop it's pretty much the normal scaletrix but an easier track.

If you do get one, just get a normal set but make a smaller track out of that set.

They were charging about £30 for it and for about £60 I could have got 3 times the amount of track in the older version.

Does that make any sense?

Anyway..... in my opinion it was crap and would be waste of money.

I'll be off to TK Maxx too soapbox, thank you !

Gobbledispook · 17/10/2005 10:43

LOL LadyTH!!

Soapbox - you are a complete star!! Have been to TKMaxx this morning! I got the pirate ship for £30 and the police station (complete with jail cell and 'criminal'!) for £30 too (think it's £50 normally). Also got a couple of playmobil rescue boats with 3 figures which were £8 down from £15 - emergency presents for kids parties!

I see what you mean about posting the ship - that would have been a bit of a nightmare!!

Thanks again - really chuffed!

This Christmas my son will be aware that something is happening and will open his presents with great gusto and delight, which I am really looking forwards to.

I'm planning on buying him a play kitchen because he loves, well, playing kitchen. When we take him to the soft play area in Meadowhall he goes straight for the kitchen and cooks, washes up and makes cups of tea, the whole works. I don't care if other people think he's a sissy. At least at the tender age of 2 he knows what a sink, cooker and vacuum cleaner are for, unlike his dad!
