What do your girls call their lady parts?

Sorry - bit of a weird one.

My DS talks about his "winky" but we aren't sure what to call DD's lady parts. Fanny was the norm when I was a child but it seems a bit odd now?

Obivously, lady garden and fanjo are de rigeur on mnet but she is only 1Grin.

My mum has suggested calling it her 'twinkle'?

All suggestions gratefully received. Just don't want to pick something that will seem odd to other children when she starts preschool.

My dd's call it their Mary as did I when I was a child.

penelopestitsdropped · 30/01/2011 20:07

This has been discussed many times on here over the years.

You will get a load of lentil weavers on that will shout at you for not automically going for the biologically correct term and calling it her vulva.

In our house it's a minny moo. purely because that's what it was when i grew up

maresedotes · 30/01/2011 20:10

Mine called it "girly bits" (I know!). My eldest asked what the proper name for it was about a year ago so I told her. Wish I had told her earlier to be honest because she thought it was a 'rude' word that mustn't be said and that was why I hadn't told her. I was cross with myself.

ready2pop · 30/01/2011 20:20

Ah but if you go for anatomical correctness then you'd hve to differentiate the different parts wouldn't you? Don;t fancy explaining the difference between a vulva, urethra, vagina etc... to a toddler.

Just want something non-offensive but well used enough that if she says the word to someone other than us (i.e. nursery carers etc...) they'll know what she is on about.

RamblingRosa · 30/01/2011 20:28

"foo foo" Grin

OpenAmyrillis · 30/01/2011 20:29

I like foo foo :)

It was fanny in my day...but yes seems somewhat odd now.

RamblingRosa · 31/01/2011 11:44

We think foo foo is cute too. No idea where it came from. I've heard noo noo too.

FoundWanting · 31/01/2011 11:48

widge or widgie. DSis coined the term when she was 6 or 7 and we all use it now.

seoraemaeul · 31/01/2011 12:16

Mine calls it her 'zizi' which is the french version of willy, but then she has a big brother and also tries to pee standing up like him! Its making potty training really fun Hmm

kreecherlivesupstairs · 31/01/2011 12:23

DD started calling hers a woowoo when she was about 2.6, recently though it has become her banjo. I am not sure why, she is 9.8.
Her french friend used to call hers a zizi.

boyscomingoutofmyears · 31/01/2011 12:24

Foo foo is the term I'm most familiar with, my neices use it (I only have boys). Everyone uses foo foo where I live.

Causes some confusion though as DS1 who has speech difficulties and pronounces DS2's name as "foo foo"....the looks we get in the supermarket...Grin

Tuppence!

sherby · 31/01/2011 12:27

vagina, which although not anatomically correct is distinctly better than the 'twinky hole' her friend uses Hmm

Ormirian · 31/01/2011 12:57

Veronica.

Ormirian · 31/01/2011 12:59

Not really Grin

Fanny, not that she makes that much of a habit of referring to it these days. She's 11 and very keen on her privacy. She is most likely to say 'ahem...down there' Grin

cestlavie · 31/01/2011 13:07

Could I suggest that non-confusing names are given?

If you use words like "flower" I've always wondered what happens when nursery or school asks them to draw a picture of a flower/ go outside and see the flowers etc etc. Confused

I mention this because when I was little we called our bums "dots". My bro was asked to draw 10 dots as part of his homework and dutifully presented the teacher with a picture of 10 arses... cue much mutual confusion about the situation... Grin

lottylol · 31/01/2011 13:23

we use "front bottom"
