Constant whining and negative attitude in my 3 year old

Take this morning as an example, ds comes into our bedroom at 7am:

First words to me are 'oh Mummy you put a pull up on me last night, I don't wear pull ups anymore'

followed by 'Oh Mummy I didn'ts sleep in your bed last night'

'Oh Mummy I wanted to choose my Weetabix'

'Oh Mummy I don't want to get dressed'

'Naughty Mummy you switched the television off'

'You didn't buy be the builders set from Asda last week'

Repeat each sentance 150 times in a whiny voice and you get the gist.

Is this normal? Cause it's driving me wild.

DS is a bit better with games most of the time now. We started saying that the idea of games is just to enjoy them and sometimes you win sometimes you don't. If he still gets stroppy and cheats or insists on winning I tell him that people don't like playing with someone who behaves like that and I just put the game away and refuse to play. Not sure if it's the right thing to do but he is much better about losing these days (except when he's tired - then anything upsets him).

ooh - ds1 goes into meltdown if he doesn't 'win' at everything... such a hard lesson to learn.

Fennel - I admire your stance on treating whinging as naughty behaviour, but worry that ds would just grow up in his bedroom if we did this! At the moment he's in there for 3 minutes at least once a day (and often more) for shouting really loudly/pinching his brother...

I got all tearful the other evening 'cos I was daft enough to look through a photo album of when ds1 was a baby - 1 year old. He looked soooooo happy!! Got really worried that he's such a sad little thing now - what have we done???

dot1 - sometimes we've felt that about dd1. my mum said it about me too when I was a moody teen - "you used to be such a happy little child"! but 1 year olds are simple and jolly, 3-4 year olds are a bit more complex. they worry about death etc (dd2 crying today about cat that died 2 years ago, I don't think she can actually remember him!). it's part of growing older

I know - you're right. I suppose it's made much starker because we've got a jolly 1 year old aswell. Must try and remember this when he's turned into a miserable 3 year old..!
