Seth and Levi are possible, althoug Seth is hard for a lisper or in Kent, and Levi is associated with jeans. But the others are a bit "try too hard', IMHO! Sorry!

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 15/06/2010 05:31

I don't like any of them. Also I've never seen Lachlan spelt that way.

CantSupinate · 15/06/2010 05:41

I like Seth; I don't mind any of the others. I know a 5yo Riley -- his mum is always immaculately turned out so I think of it as a tasteful name like her.

ArseHolio · 15/06/2010 05:48

I don't like any of them. Sorry.

seenyertoeslately · 15/06/2010 05:49

I'm afraid I don't like any of them but Lachlan, spelt like this. My least favorites are Seth and Riley.

ClaudiaSchiffer · 15/06/2010 05:57

I like Levi, it's cool.

Lachlan is pretty overused here imo.

Seth - too lispy.

Lennon, Riley - meh.

seeker · 15/06/2010 06:13

I don't like Lachlan because of its meaning, although it does sound nice.

My friedn's Seth is always "Seff" at school - drives her mad. Particularly when it's spelled that way!

Harimo · 15/06/2010 06:20

I actually like Lennon and Riley

I met a Riley at he zoo recently and he was an adorable little chap.

Isn't Liam Glallgher's son called Lennon?

mittyslave · 15/06/2010 07:49

My son is called Levi and when i asked people what they thought of it on MN i got a lot of negative responses. i don't think you can go wrong with a biblical name. I love the name Seth too! Also Lennon i think is cool but Riley is the name of few of my friend's daughter's (i don't live in the UK)so i cannot think of it as a boy's name. people are a bit try hard here and adore Oliver, Charlie, Octavia, Eloise as there are many lower middle class mnetters who think they are upper class because they bought an aga.

diddl · 15/06/2010 08:30

Like Seth.

Magalyxyz · 15/06/2010 08:31

Seth - OK, but I definitely prefer *Saul
Levi - not my style at all. Bit of a sleb name.
Lennon - as above
Lauchlin - I like Lorcan which is Irish gaelic for Laurence
Riley - no fgs, this is ridiculous.

BuzzingNoise · 15/06/2010 08:32

I like Levi and Lennon!
I don't like the others at all.

twolittlemonkeys · 15/06/2010 08:33

I like Levi, Seth and Lennon from your list. I think you have to be a certain kind of cool to pull Lennon off though. Not keen on Laughlin or Riley.

piscesmoon · 15/06/2010 08:34

I don't like any of them.

Magalyxyz · 15/06/2010 08:37

mittyslave, ha ha! i do like those 'aspirational' names I guess, but I know I'm not living a life others aspire to! That's for sure. But there is a huge difference between Mumsnetters' opinions and British peoples' opinions. Some of the names rejected by MN-ers for being the C word haaarsh

I dislike the USE of Riley more than Riley itself, because it's an Irish sur name which is used sometimes by Americans "because they are Irish" when in actual fact if you said to them that sounds really American they wouldn't be interested, they're only interested in an American perception of Irish. So that is annoying. I also dislike the way Finley is being considered a girls' name by Americans with celtic roots. If they're going to use the names, it eventually makes them unusable in their original usage over here. dyswim?

kreecherlivesupstairs · 15/06/2010 08:46

They are all awful. Most sound like surnames. But, your child your choice.

Tortington · 15/06/2010 08:48

seth is nice
levi is a bit overdone at the mo
lennon is too rock star wannabe
lauchlin -as a first name is weird - like some american bastardisation
riley is just shit

MmeLindt · 15/06/2010 08:53

hmm, wanted to post and then noticed that Custy has said exactly what I think, so I will just say, "I agree with Custy"

And add that Lauchlin reminds me of leeks, cause Lauch is leek in German.

Magalyxyz · 15/06/2010 08:56

I think Scottish gaelic form of Laurence is actually Lachlan anyway..... although there could be another form of it that is Lauchlin.... ? But it doesn't look right to me.

coffeefestival · 15/06/2010 09:44

Seth and Levi are great. Not keen on the others.

OctaviaH · 15/06/2010 09:58

i like them all. A LOT. You have great taste.

weetabixwhiner · 15/06/2010 10:04

Seth ok not mind blowing, there was a Seth on Emmerdale [old man].Levi ok reminds me of jeans and a young name.{shortened to Lee}Lennon reminds me of Oasis, not sure about that.[shortened to Len!}Lauchlin interesting gaelic, probably go for that one! Riley is nice too.{shortened to Riles!!}

I'm not helping am I?

Jamieandhismagictorch · 15/06/2010 10:44

I like Seth and Levi

clpsmum · 15/06/2010 10:46

to be honest i am not sure if i like any of them enough to use them and am not even sure it is a boy i am having! Have a girls name sorted but already have two boys one has a 'surname' name the other has an old testament name but not very common in the parts where i live so am trying to come up with boys names that will fit in with the other two's names, if you see what i mean!

also realise now the ocrrect spelling is Lachlan!

GooseyLoosey · 15/06/2010 10:48

Seth is OK - the others are not for me.
