dont like Levi, dont mind Seth, know a dog called Riley and Lennon is a bit too try hard for me.

CakeandRoses · 15/06/2010 11:01

Seth is nice but would be "Seff" in some parts of London and the South East (and probably other places too)

Levi is great. I have an ancestor named Levi so it sounds old and biblical to me but I guess others might see it as a bit naff and brand-namey?

Lennon, Lauchlin, Riley - sorry but they all seem a bit naff and surnamey to me

nickelbabe · 15/06/2010 11:04

surely the "seff" argument can only be compared to cafferine or any other name with a th in it...

I like Seth and I like Levi.

i don't like the others.

seeker · 15/06/2010 11:39

You're right about "Cafferine" - but somehow "Seff" sounds particularly bad. Maybe because the name's so short? And also, it sounds as if it could be short for something else.

clpsmum · 15/06/2010 11:44

yes the 'Seff' thing does put me off and especially as our surname is one syllable beginning with F so would just sound like it all ran into each other. Any other name suggestions are welcome by the way!

Patrick.
Edmund (Ned)
Lorcan
Anurin (Nye)

Did I mention Patrick?

Blu · 15/06/2010 12:02

I like Seth and Levi

mittyslave · 15/06/2010 13:14

weetabixwhiner ---levi a young name??? how young? as young as the old testament... what do you think is traditional then ? Ethelred? Egbert? Methuselah?

jellybeans · 15/06/2010 13:15

Seth..like
Levi...like
Lennon...dislike, too surnamey
Lauchlin...like spelled Lachlan
Riley...like but hear girls are being called this now like Dylan, Bailey etc...

NanKid · 15/06/2010 13:43

I like Levi.

Seth is horrible. It's just lispy and wet.

The others are a bit 'Kerry Katona'.

maktaitai · 15/06/2010 13:51

Seth, Riley and Levi are v nice, though I wouldn't use Seth myself due to Cold Comfort Farm. V popular though.

Rockbird · 15/06/2010 15:19

Agree, Seth is too lispy and the Cafferine argument doesn't work due to the lack of an 's'

clpsmum · 15/06/2010 18:25

How about Ashton? People keep saying its very american when i mention it but i don't see that as a bad thing particularly.

After all this i will proably have a girl lol

Nankid - i almost wet myself at your comments, a bit too keyy katona - love it sums it up perfectly!

I like Ashton.

Bobbalina · 15/06/2010 18:36

You're on your own with those ones

LilMagill · 15/06/2010 22:09

Please not Lennon, I cringed when Liam Gallagher used it; the kid may as well be made to go around with those little round John Lennon glasses and long bushy black hair.

Levi is nice.

LilMagill · 15/06/2010 22:13

Thing with Ashton is it is so "Ashton Kutcher", with these celebrity names that come out of nowhere, they end up sounding quite dated and downmarket years down the line. Like Wayne, probably was influenced by John Wayne or something but it's not got the classiest image now.

BikeRunSki · 15/06/2010 22:14

I rather like them all, although would use spelling Lachlan.

SingingTunelessly · 15/06/2010 22:16

Yep you are the only person who likes those names. Next.

DinahRod · 15/06/2010 22:24

Actually like Lachlan (spelt this way) and Seth, although the latter is possibly a bit too Cold Comfort Farm.

The others are going to be very very dated.
