Hello my name is Libby. Married to Andy we have 4 children and are expecting our 5th in November (how did that happen) I have posted this with help from my dear friend and wondered if you could help me.

WE found naming all our children really easy, in fact we liked so many names that we were spoilt for choice but for some reason all of us are stumpted. Not keen on our youngest's suggestion of Milo or Fizz haha!

Can anyone help, we currently have a Henri, Cecily, Violetta and a Mimi (actual name Annone)

I don't like very modern names I prefer quite old fashioned but don't mind if they are quite well used if you know what I mean. I quite like Constance for a girl and Hugo for a boy but my hubby detests those. Typical!

I have been reading threads for quite a while now and felt compelled to post one myself as we are having such a hard time in agreeing anything.
Many thanks in advance

I love Robin, Oscar and Felix too, for boys. Feeling quite broody now. Might even let DH have his wicked way later, (just in case vasectomy didn't work !)

Hi

DD is called Daisy Ella and french for Daisy is Marguarite (weird I know). Friend has just called her dd Erin which I really like. If dd had been a boy he would have been Billy (after my Nana - its a long story!).

bonym · 09/08/2005 22:44

mandymac - marguerite is a daisy (as in flower)!

Does anyone have any old fashioned Greek names to hand. I had a book which had ahuge section on them and can't find it I seem to remember liking Dora, way before the exploring type. Smile

This mumsnet is way to addictive isn't it?

Constance, Clementine, Aurelie, Anais, Amelie, as you seem to have a French thing going.
Benedict, Oscar, Issac, Nathaniel, are my current fave boys names.

Dora is from Theodora, so I suppose Thea has the same roots!

Other 'older' Greek names (that I can think of off the top of my head!) Athena (DD's middle name) Anastacia (DSs alternate girl names!) Eleni, Stella, Androulla, Eliou, Pandora, have gone blank, can't remember any in laws who aren't called Helen or Maria atm!

Jemima for a girl or Louis for a boy (french pronounciation)?

libbyss · 10/08/2005 08:15

Thank you for the suggestion of watching film credits nailpolish - although I seem to have taken it one step further and am now watching absolutely everything when the credits roll getting very frustrated if they roll too quickly - I am like a spoilt child right now.

Better go and sort my lot out.
Lockets Thea is very pretty and Milge I love Clementine, always hankered after Anais but Andy says it sounds too much like Anus and would get teased at school, will he ever agree with me!

oh thank you MariaL - This thread is going so fast I cannot keep up with it. My son(Step son),is a Henri Joseph Louis, My husband and his ex were very much suckers for French names back then!

Strange thing is I always LOVED it as boys names go and always said I would use it , then I go and inherit one, good or what? (smile) Something tells me this one will be a boy and I hope so for Henri's sake anyway - finally!

I'll add my favourites

Coco and Sterling.

I always think of Coco Channel and Sterling after Sterling Moss so really, they are old names.

bundle · 10/08/2005 15:09

Tabs · 10/08/2005 17:11

Sweetkitty - are you me .

If this baby is a boy it will also be Elliot, and if it's a girl it would have been Amelia, but for the fact that her intials would then read ARS, which we figured would be a bit cruel!

MascaraOHara · 10/08/2005 17:11

Just wanted to say I love Constance. I have been terribly broody lately and have been taking refuge in dreaming up names in my head!

Funnily enough Constance anf Florence were both names near the top of my lists. or

Gene
Clarissa (Clarey)
Amelie
Imogen
Olivia
