Do you like this name?

First heard it on a MN, mentioned it to DH and he is stuck on it now.

Wondered what others thought of this name, do you ike it? What are your impressions?

Do you think it wil be a difficult name to live with as its quite unheard of.

Appreciate your honesty.

(We already have an Eva btw)

Dull-chee? or Dull-see?

Dull-see

I knew an elderly lady with this name, she was very posh and as mad as a hatter.

Pronounced Dul-see.

rachxx · 04/06/2010 09:22

I personally like it very much, but I keep getting told how much of an old lady name it is, and the other kids have a tendancy to say DULLcie, Dunce, and the whole Dolce and Gabbana thing.

Up to you though, my boss screwed her face up when I mentioned it was on my short list.

lidofabiro · 04/06/2010 09:48

Sorry but I don't like it.

Teapot13 · 04/06/2010 09:59

It sounds very old-fashioned to me, but that's not a bad thing. It isn't a name I would use for my own child but meeting a person with that name I would think, "Oh, that's kind of a nice name."

Is it short for something? Besides Dulcinea?

candyflossbaby · 04/06/2010 10:05

Dulciana
Dulcette
Dulcita
Dulcinea

are all the longer forms

kreecherlivesupstairs · 04/06/2010 10:16

NO NO NO, it was the name of a boxer dog I knew.

onadietcokebreak · 04/06/2010 10:43

I know a Dulce...she is lovely

MagalyZz · 04/06/2010 15:20

I love it! my old Spanish friend's sister was called Dulcie. They said Doolsee.

I don't like Dulcinea though. That sounds like a low fat yoghurt.

MagalyZz · 04/06/2010 15:21

ps, I think it's like Esme. Ten years ago people would have screwed up their faces at that and considered it smell-of-wee-chic.

It's the "dull" that I'm not keen on. Do you like Darcy, Maisie, Lucy?

lidofabiro · 04/06/2010 15:45

Or Elspeth/Elsie?

ThatVikRinA22 · 04/06/2010 15:54

i love it.

I am loving it the more I hear it tbh.

thesecondcoming, I think some people will always screw their face up at your name choice. No one likes every name!

et decorum est pro patria mori?

meadowlarks · 05/06/2010 00:12

Sorry, but any name with "Dull" in it should be an immediate no.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 05/06/2010 09:52

Personally I can't see the attraction though I think a lot of MNers quite like it.

MamaLazarou · 05/06/2010 10:29

I like Dulcie. It's refreshingly different without being weird.

noddyholder · 05/06/2010 10:32

I know one she is so sweet! It is pronounced without the long e sound at the end just a short ah kind of soundNice but actually quite common

theagedparent · 05/06/2010 11:38

Lovely name and would be more likely shortened to Dulce rather that Dull

bigbluebump · 05/06/2010 15:21

How is saying Dulce shorter than Dulcie .

Why would Dulcie need to be shortened, though?
