It's getting close now to due date.Always loved Finn and Beau but dh hates these!
He liked Inigo,Archer,Kelly and Jesse.
I don't really like any of these.
We already have an Ellis James for ds1.

The only name we see eye to eye with is Rocco.

The middle name would be Alexander. Please tell me what you think.

Thanks

Quite like it,yes. Know a nice little boy called Rocco.

mistressploppy · 24/05/2010 09:11

It's lovely but I just can't get over the Madonna connection. You wouldn't consider Alexander as a first name?

I do like Inigo, but you don't so that's that. You have to both like it.

sapell3 · 24/05/2010 09:27

I don't really like the name Rocco I'm afraid (not because of Madonna, but I did think of Madonna straight away).

Cinderellarach · 24/05/2010 09:28

Thanks.I know what you mean about Madonna connection though.

We are both R Catholic and it helps that there was a Saint Rocco so he can get baptised.

The only thing I worry about is that people will comment that we are not Italian...

I think it's just a bit too different compared with your other son's name.

mistressploppy · 24/05/2010 09:31

I think the Catholic connection helps. As for the Italian thing - meh. Our DS has an unusual Jewish name and we're not Jewish!

Cinderellarach · 24/05/2010 10:01

Does Ellis and Rocco sound too silly LaDiDaDi?

Thanks mistressploppy.Puts my mind at rest.

I like it but Alexander is nice as a first name!

My ds's middle name is Alexander and I wish I'd used it as his first name.

Otherwise, nothing wrong with Rocco and I think it sounds nice with your other ds's name.

mistressploppy · 24/05/2010 10:09

Awww, Ellis and Rocco sounds lovely! Do it!

LaDiDaDi · 24/05/2010 10:23

I just think that Rocco is a bit more "out there" than Ellis iyswim. Both nice names though.

dannas · 24/05/2010 10:32

Not keen, I just think Madonna.

Finn Alexander would be lovely!

Bucharest · 24/05/2010 10:40

I'm in Italy and only know one small Rocco, who was named after his Grandad ie, it's an old-fashioned grandaddy name.

It's an Italian name I quite like though, but would shy clear of using it with no Italian connections tbh. It's also very different to Ellis.

I like Alexander, but would go for Alexander Finn rather than the other way round.

Cinderellarach · 24/05/2010 10:58

That's my only concern.People asking if we have any Italian connections.

Does it really matter? Will people roll their eyes at us?

I've heard much worse!

It is unusual, also in Italy, but obviously no-one in the UK would know that necessarily....Some names have become "internationalised" (Francesca, Sophia, Sophie) Maybe you could start the process with Rocco!

(prefer Alexander though!)

BessieBoots · 24/05/2010 11:08

Not keen, I think of Madonna, and to be honest I would expect an Italian connection. Sorry.

Ellis, on the other hand, is an excellent name.

sonniebonnie · 24/05/2010 11:10

Ellis and Rocco sound great together!

Cinderellarach · 24/05/2010 11:21

Thanks for fb

I know a Rocco too - wee soul

mopsyflopsy · 24/05/2010 12:02

Does remind me of Madonna and/or Italy, but otherwise it is a nice name.

swanandduck · 24/05/2010 13:17

Sorry, but when Ireland's last Prime Minister became a grandfather to twins, they were called Jay and Rocco. Whole country fell around laughing. I think it would be nice if you were Italian, but otherwise no.

dizzydixies · 24/05/2010 13:34

oh and the one I know has a half italian father so it suits him iyswim?

hellokitty123 · 24/05/2010 13:49

I like Rocco. Lots of people use the name Luca these days without any Italian connections... If you like the name, I'd go for it.

skidoodly · 24/05/2010 13:51

The Madonna connection is too strong to my mind.

LuluF · 24/05/2010 14:26

I know a Rocco. He is Sicilian (it's more popular in the southern parts of Italy and Sicily). I think it's a great name - but I personally wouldn't use an Italian/Sicilian name if I didn't have Italian/Sicilian connections. I think people might roll their eyes a bit.

sophiesmummie · 24/05/2010 14:43

I like the sound of Rocco - masculine and cool, but people may ask about his Italian heritage. But then lots of names are originally foreign.
