i have always loved this name but no one in my family likes it. what do you think of it?

It's a good name - works for a child and a grown woman. You're the mother - you get to decide not your family (I assume your dh likes it?)

I love the fact that it means little bear.

It reminds me of the sea witch from Little Mermaid

It's a good name, I'm just kidding. It's really nice. I used to have to speak to an Ursula at my work a lot when arranging things. She was LOVELY!!!

It's my big sister's name and she's terribly beautiful and strong (if a bit bossy!), so I've got good associations.

Her NN is "Ursie" (rhymes with nursey) and she's never had a huge problem with people being unable to pronounce it (grew up in north east).

Would you pr. it Erse-ewe-la? Or Oor-soo-la? I quite like it as a full name but it hasn't got many diminutives.

I would prefer to be named Little Bear than Ursula. And I wouldn't really like to be called Little Bear.

I absolutely love it and it was high on our list if DS2 hd turned out to be a girl.

We would have used Sula day to day.

I love it cause of a character from a book I loved when I was a kid (although I cant remember the name of the book!!).

I wouldnt shorten the name, I would leave it as Ursula pronounced er-shu-la

I know a fair few Ursulas my age. It is one of those names like Jacinta which is moderately popular in Ireland and not used at all in the UK>

Even though I know nice Ursualas, I wouldn't use it for a baby myself, but I think it'd be a quirky choice. I wouldn't think omg so ugly. I'd think, that's a strong name. Better a strong name than lola imo. Just mvho.

I want to like it but just not sure, I think it is the beginning sound I don't like.

I think it's lovely, very graceful and pretty. Unfortunately, I can never use it as I once worked with a very odd lady called Ursula and couldn't name a daughter after her. But it still hasn't put me off the name for other people.

Very common name amongst 50+ aged old German ladies, generally shortened to Uschi.

Personally, I'm not that keen on it.

The "Ur" sounds like an expression of dislike.
