this is only going to end in tears

bibbitybobbityhat · 17/05/2010 18:44

No, I really hope not dizzy, not if people don't take it personally.

I am fully aware that loads of people can't bear my children's names (they are INCREDIBLY common right now) but I am not so fragile as to be upset by that.

LynetteScavo · 17/05/2010 18:46

Thomas.

It won't end in tears, one of my DC has already been mentioned. If anyone sobs they are a wuss. It's official.

traceybath · 17/05/2010 18:47

Whats the point of this - agree with dizzy.

dizzydixies · 17/05/2010 18:50

well you see my DD1 and my husband have both been mentioned already bibbitybobbityhat and although I'm too am not fragile I really don't see the point of threads like this

LynetteScavo · 17/05/2010 18:54

WhatsAllThisthen....what is your offering?

My own RL name is definitely over rated.

WorzselMummage · 17/05/2010 18:59

Alfie, archie, Charlie and Freddy..

And

Lilly, Daisy, Poppy, Rosie

zozzle · 17/05/2010 19:00

LynetteScavo · 17/05/2010 19:12

No, some popular names eg Thomas aren't something I'd choose but can see why others do. Whereas other names like Archie I don't really see why they are popular.

Imarriedafrog - I've no idea what the OP means either however I hate these threads - ESP when the OP just starts it spinning and fecks off

WhatsAllThisThen · 17/05/2010 19:31

Erm, I'm right here. Yoohoo!

Greensleeves · 17/05/2010 19:31

Nina

every time I see or hear it the chorus goes up of "oh, it's such a BEAUTIFUL name", and every time I think "no, it's gopping"

ditto Freya and Anita

Nancy. I don't get it (this isn't just DC's DD, heard a 2 y.o. being called on in John Lewis the other day).

WhatsAllThisThen · 17/05/2010 19:33

not horrible, over-rated.

Although there may be some names you feel are both.

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 17/05/2010 19:34

names that people make too much of a 'fuss' over? how can anyone not fuss over a new baby name??

hi froggie

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 17/05/2010 19:34

I dont think any names are particularly over-rated, as although some names are more popular than others, I only seem to know one child per name, so fairly evenly spaced out.
There are a lot of hyphenated names at the mo, esp as DD's dance class.

bibbitybobbityhat · 17/05/2010 19:35

Am I being completely obtuse or can you not click hide or not open the thread if you don't like it?

There is no point to this thread. People are going to have wildly differing opinions. Its a pointless thread but gives you a chance to say names you don't much care for. Is that really so bad?

Its hardly BNP or single mother bashing or any of the other zillion pointless potentially offensive issues that are discussed on Mumsnet daily.

dizzydixies · 17/05/2010 19:35

and there is my name in the mix now

LuluF · 17/05/2010 19:36

I have a Nancy.
