Esme is very, very popular and is also a name featured in the whole vampire wave that's sweeping the globe right now.

Magaly · 12/05/2010 14:51

I like it. Apparently it was very popular at one stage but I don't know any.

I prefer Zoe though. Zoe has the edge for me.

alfiemama · 12/05/2010 14:53

Aw thanks Charley, what a lovely story, I didn't even know it meant little shoot.

I agree popular names are popular because they are nice.

Just thought of 2 new names, I know Im terrible lol

Eden and Seren

The 3 Chloes I mentioned are 8, don't know if that makes any difference to you.

Prefer Emma personally.

mathanxiety · 12/05/2010 14:54

Eden and Seren are beautiful, imo.

alfiemama · 12/05/2010 14:56

Thanks Mathanxiety, a distant friend used it years ago, which is where I heard of it, must have been about 6 years ago now.
Magaly really don't know why, but I'm not keen on Zoe, just always seems (sorry to all Zoe's) a bit harsh for me.

I think Chloe is an absolutely gorgeous name. It was very popular a few years ago for quite a few years, but less so now. That may or may not bother you.

I think it is probably fair to say that it has "had its day" (for this generation) if you think about names in those terms.

skidoodly · 12/05/2010 14:58

alfie I agree with you about Zoe, I don't really undertand why but it seems harsh to me too.

Seren I like (but hate Serena), Eden not too keen.

Hedwig3 · 12/05/2010 14:59

Eden is the nicest name on this thread so far.

alfiemama · 12/05/2010 15:01

Thanks Skidoodly, would it matter that Seren is a welsh name and where not Welsh?
I love Erin, but my friends little boy is Aaron so maybe confusing, whereas Seren may solve this issue. Seren Rose has a nice ring to it.

ps don't like Serena either

I love the name Chloe. My DD is Chloe, she is 2. I know it is a popular name but so pleased that we went with it.

alfiemama · 12/05/2010 18:41

Thanks remaincalm. It does seem to fit the criteria well, old name like the boys, but still modern, nice for a baby and for an adult, IE doesn't sound too babyish. People still seem to like the name.

alfiemama · 12/05/2010 19:41

Boollocks hubby vetoed Seren . Says too unusual

vicbar · 12/05/2010 22:09

My DH really wanted Chloe for DD1 (6) but it was too popular but Id changed my mind when we had DD2 (2).
She's Chloe Belle and actually around here the Chloes seem to be a lot older 8 or 9 rather than the under 5's. Im really glad we went with it.

Chathappy · 12/05/2010 22:21

I love it - very pretty.

muminthemiddle · 12/05/2010 22:28

I think iot is a safe nice name.

Ishoglomo · 12/05/2010 22:53

thanks everyone. It has to be a name that will go with ds's Alfie and Archie, we have been advised to try and stay away from ie sounding names, so not sure if Chloe will fit the bill phonically. Eden may be too far away from the boys name in a sense of style.

We both quite like Iris, but mum said she didn't like. I know we shouldn't go off what people say, but its important to us.

I suppose what I am looking for is a name like Benjamin but for a girl, adaptable yet cute but doesn't end in IE. For some reason we see to like IE names as they are cute but all the longer girls names seem too grown up. Hope this makes sense.

Any ideas?

Hedwig3 · 13/05/2010 12:22

Alfie, Archie and Molly sound lovely together.

alfiemama · 13/05/2010 12:27

thanks Hedwig, and I agree, only problem is we had a dog called Molly. Not sure if appropriate.

Isobel?

alfiemama · 13/05/2010 12:31

thanks snice, but we have an Isobel in the family.

hubby just said Lola?

OP posts:
alfiemama · 13/05/2010 12:42

scrap Lola, keep thinking of Barry Manilow

Don't you think you run the risk of alienating Archie if you have an Alfie with an Annie Rose or was there an Archie in the books too? I can't remember.

Chloe is nice. How about Anna something or Rose something? Rather too many ee syllables for me, sorry.
