I've had enough now - Name my baby. I am quite honestly sick and tired of thinking I like something then changing my mind. :0(

Have 3 boys, this will be my first and only daughter - think this is why it seems so hard to choose the right name.

Names have included:

Eleanor
Lydia
Sophia
Eloise
Alexia/Alexis
Sienna
Verity
Bryony

Latest was Sophia but I have caught wind of this becoming popular and most Sophias getting called Sophie anyway which is a totally different name IMO and I'm not as keen.

Didn't want anything really popular.

Can't have Rose as it bleeds into our surname, as does Eloise actually as a first name.

Surname is 2 syllables beginning with S very similar to Simpson.

Penelope Violet? Excellent name! Go with it.

What an amazing stroke of luck, I'm really pleased for you

Would she be Penelope or NN thereof IRL?

DrivenToDistraction · 10/04/2010 20:20

...and if so which NN?

LadyOfTheFlowers · 10/04/2010 20:22

Good old DH eh?! Kept me hanging on with 'no idea' until 39+2!!

I don't mind really. We both like Penny and I particularly like Nell if I could pull that off. I did like it as a stand alone name in the very beginning but since decided it wasn't 'enough'.

So Penelope, Penny or Nell. Lots of choice.

I really am so very pleased for you!

Love Nell, you can certainly pull it off.

whywhywhydelilah · 11/04/2010 18:56

Alexia or Alexis are my faves.

Thediaryofanobody · 11/04/2010 18:59

I love Penelope, with penny for short.

LaRagazzaInglese · 13/04/2010 00:57

Prefer Eloise, not sure if it sounds right with (name similar to)-Simpson, maybe Eloisa? Elouisa? Elisa? Eliza?

er what lydia chlamydia connection?

LadyOfTheFlowers · 13/04/2010 09:09

I asked opinions on another thread about the name Lydia and some one said:

'We had briefly considered Lydia for our DD, but BIL who is a teacher put us off it for the 'Lydia Chlamydia' connection. The Lydia he taught tried to hang herself due to the chlamydia name calling

It wasnt something I had connected the name with, and I was surprised teenagers would even know about CHlamydia, but apparently there is a big campaign targetting teenagers about this, with posters everywhere'

So I decided to drop the name. Knowing my luck, it would come up and I would never forgive myself as it had been pointed out to me.

I am Lydia (31) i can honestly say no-one has ever said Lydia chlamydia to me.

Lydia bin, lydia teapot and that type of thing but never that. But, only in jest never nastily.

In fact only ever had kind comments about my name - i neither love it or hate it. I am mostly always lyd. Dad still calls me lyddy

I think if someone tried to hang themselves, there probably was more to the story than just teasing about a name - maybe a bigger bullying picture ??

kids are cruel and will be mean about anything, i have learnt this since DD1 went to secondary 2 years ago.

Hello!

I have a DD 4years called Sienna i was worried about people saying 'like sienna miller' or similar but in 4 years i have not eperienced it. People more connect it to the Italien city called Siena. I have also only seen 1 other Sienna since she was born good luck
