Hi
My friend is due next month and having a girl and loves these very similar names (so do i) but cant decide which one to use.

All 3 go with surname and middle name would be Louise(her middle name) or Anne (family name on both sides).

Dont want to make out anyone is stupid but she would have the Mia...said as Meeya not just a different spelling of Mya
IYKWIM

Thanks
xx

I love Mia. Mya is ok, not as nice as Mia, but I don't like Maya at all.

Mia pronounced mee-ah is my personal favourite despite it's popularity. I just think it's a lovely name.

I love the spelling Maia for My-ah.

Mya is a bit made-up looking.

Maya/Maja are OK. I find it very strange that people pronounce Maya 'May-ah'. Where does that pronunciation originate from?

Thanks for all your input ladies...much appreciated

Ive spoken to my friend and she loves the name Amaya just to confuse things. She kinda gone off Maya now that people would say it differently, but likes the spelling Maia as that would have people say it as May-ah which she wanted.
I think shes got her heart set on Mia though tbh.

Maya, pronounced My-ah, is Sanskrit for "illusion". It's also an absolutely beautiful name, and I love it! Want to call the next one Maya if it's a girl, but DH in two minds.

Since having DD1 (aka Maya), I've been amazed how many cultures it's a popular name in. We called her Maya from the Israeli side (it's very very common in Israel), but I've met people from all over who say it's a lovely name and tell me what it means in their culture. I think I remember one lady telling me it means 'love' in Hindi but I may be wrong, it was years ago.

From babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com/meaning_of_Maya.html:

Maya is mostly taken in English-speaking countries as a variant of the mythological name Maia, usage influenced by the common English word and name "May".

It is also the Spanish form of the name, and a common pet form of Amalia.

The name occurs in Japanese as well, with various combinations of meaning, such as for example truth and everlasting.

It is another name for the Basque goddess Mari.

"Maya;" means "illusion" or "enchantment" in Sanskrit and Pāli (from ma; "not" and ya; "this")
In Hinduism, is a term describing many things. Maya is the phenomenal world of separate objects and people, which creates for some the illusion that it is the only reality.
In Hindu mythology, Maya is the name of the goddess Devi, the consort of Shiva.
In Buddhist myth, Queen Maya was the birth mother of the historical Buddha. It is also used on males.

Maya is also a modern Hebrew name, probably also a variant of Greek Maia, but maybe related to Maayan (spring) and to the Aramaic word for ?water?.

This name can also be given in reference to a pre-Columbian civilization in southern Mexico and Latin America.

Mia

It's beautiful!

I prefer it with Louise than Anne though, but that would be the case with all the choices
