So excited to finally be able to post this! Just had my 12 week scan so feeling much happier after some early bleeding. This is my current list (note my list - DH doesn't necessarily agree with me on these).

I'm looking for opinions and inspiration based on the things I like. I can't take your ribbing, I've already had DD's name described as sanitary-wear on here

Boys:

Raphael
Emmanual
Reuben
Otis (actually this is DH's choice)
Soren
Theodore
Jonah

Isadadora
Clementine
Seraphina (I don't think I would ever actually use this one, but I like it)
Beatrice
Ondine
Betty/Bettina

I like all of these but none of them jump out at me yet, so I need your validation or new ideas.

Hit me with it

Bumperlicious · 13/03/2010 07:54

Ooh, good list, thanks mathanxiety:

Serena - Quite like, Serena or is it Sereena. Does it come from Seren? Welsh for rainbow IIRC.
Helena - Hmm, I'm mulling this one over
Daphne - MIL's name and one of DD's middle names
Lucy - Don't like

Jonas - think I prefer Jonah
Michael - Nope
Silas - NOPE!
Austin - Nope
Anselm- Nope
Axel - NOPE!
Blaise - I like but I'm not sure a child of mine could pull it off
Clement - Hmmm, I like, however a bit to much like the old man names in fashion atm
Leo - Funnily enough was on our list last time, I like, but DD's name begins with 'L' and is 2 syllables so a bit of a mouthful together
Louis - Quite popular I think
Roland - Nope

Good list though, thanks! I really must find a baby name book and have a look.

bumperlicious

what about Meredith or Merrin/Merryn?

lydle3 · 13/03/2010 09:42

or Marielle - i love this.

Lovely MrsvWoolf . . . as i rememebered.

loobylu3 · 13/03/2010 10:13

Raphael- Love this!
Emmanual- nice sound but wouldn't actually use, bit of potential for teasing!
Reuben- like this
Otis (actually this is DH's choice)-not bad
Soren- like this a lot but some would find it a bit feminine perhaps
Theodore- love this but has taken off in popularity a bit!
Jonah- like this too.

Isadora- love this!
Clementine- like it!
Seraphina (I don't think I would ever actually use this one, but I like it)- too frilly for me.
Beatrice- lovely
Ondine- not the prettiest of French names
Betty/Bettina- ok

I love Raphael, Theodore and Isadora especially! If we ever have another on, I plan to call him Raphael!

StrictlyKatty · 13/03/2010 10:57

Raphael is lovely
like Reuben and Theodore too.

Isadora is WONDERFUL!
Clementine was my favourite name but is becoming far too popular, I know 6 around me

Beatrice is my new fave, classic, not too popular.

largeginandtonic · 13/03/2010 11:16

Wolf for a boy. Linus too is very cool. I have had that on my list a few times.

Seraphim for a girl not Seraphina. DD gets called Phim mostly.

MrsWolf and Lydle your girl names are fabulous. Yours are too Dizzy.

Hugo for a boy is also cool. Ds4 is Hugo Rafferty Peter.

Where is Megglevache she is excellent at these baby name threads.

Delilah? Angelica?

gibbberish · 13/03/2010 11:24

Bumperlicious, you have achieved the before now unachievable!

I like ALL your boys name choices! You really have no idea how incredible that is as I am terribly fussy about boys names. It's just as well dh and I never had any boys as we never once agreed on a name.

Out of the girls I really like Seraphina and Isadora. Applaud your choices!

lydle3 · 13/03/2010 11:56

largeginandtonic, not sure if you remember but i seeked you out on may 07 thread to ask advice about CIN3 abnormal smear result when i was 6 weeks pregnant. Anyway result was Beatrice and just had cells removed . . so all was well in the end - just in case you were ever wondering.

largeginandtonic · 13/03/2010 17:02

Aha! I knew that was you Lydle! Thank goodness that all was well. Beatrice is such a lovely name.

That is both of us with a colposcopy while prg and lovely baby girls as a final result. Blardy smashing

plonker · 13/03/2010 17:32

Boys:

Raphael - lovely
Emmanual - ok
Reuben - popular
Otis (actually this is DH's choice) - not keen
Soren - ok
Theodore - love it
Jonah - don't like

Isadora - not keen
Clementine - lovely
Seraphina (I don't think I would ever actually use this one, but I like it) - really lovely
Beatrice - beautiful
Ondine - hate this! It just makes me think of Ondines curse
Betty/Bettina - Love love love Betty

Good luck

janeiteisFedUp · 13/03/2010 17:36

Wolf?

MrsW - have said it before but hey ho, will say it again - your daughters' names are lovely. I especially like Pandora Cecily Maude.

The more I think about Isadora, the more I love it.

Italiangreyhound · 13/03/2010 17:53

Congrats on the baby

Raphael - lovely
Reuben - great
Jonah - good choice

Soren means apart apparently, according to one website. It sounds lovely but I'm not sure.

Isadadora - nice but I am sure you would abbreviate it to Izzy
Clementine - good, might be abbreviate to Clemmie
Seraphina - might become 'Fi'
Beatrice
Ondine - I'm afraid this makes me think of a negative sounding word
Betty/Bettina - cute, makes me think of Betty Boo but I would be more inclined to go with Elizabeth and abbreviate that way to Betty but she might get called Lizzie. I think it is good to think of the abbreviations and if you like them. For example could Bettina be abbreviated to Tina and how would you like that? I would probably go with Bethany and abbreviate to Betty.

ChynaDoll2006 · 14/03/2010 17:47

Love
Theodore
Raphael
Emmanual - prefer spelled Immanuel

Seraphina - gorgeous

Not keen on the rest.

ellesabe · 14/03/2010 18:01

Otis and Jonah are both on my shortlist too

4madboys · 14/03/2010 18:15

well i have a theodore, but he is ten, so we used it way before it became trendy and he has always been the only theodore at school and in baby groups etc, tho there are now a few young ones about.

Reuben is ds2's middle name, he is Oscar Reuben, so i like Reuben.

i liked Raphael when we had ds4, but dp said no because of the turtles, we ended up calling him Rudi Arlo

i like Jonah, but again dp didnt

and i LOVED Soren but on another parenting forum i go on we had a troll who made up all sorts of shit including a son called Soren, she caused all sorts of upset, kind of gone down in history ifykwim? so that put me off that name.

i like Otis

not sure about your girls names, they dont jump out at me but i dont dislike them either

tbh i am glad we have had boys as dp and i could never think of/agree on a girls name we liked.
