I think it's nice. Don't know any personally.

You may get a flaming for getting the c* word in so early

Bucharest · 10/03/2010 08:40

No to overused.
Yes to C*

4andnotout · 10/03/2010 08:51

I love Darcey, I don't know of any in our area, I don't think it's chavish but then I don't understand all this preoccupation with chav, you either like a name or you don't, why worry about others connotations of it?

bouncingblueberries · 10/03/2010 08:53

I think it's a lovely name. Only know one.

differentID · 10/03/2010 08:53

not chavvy as such, but it is becoming very popular very quickly.

I like it, but wouldn't use it myself.

Kate Garraway has a little girl called this.
Not my taste personally, but agree who cares about 'chav'.

My son's name could be considered quite 'chav' - rhymes with Tyler and is an anglicised spelling which I guess is sorta chavvy and ill-educated. I don't really care (and I like Tyler too )

SugarSkyHigh · 10/03/2010 09:38

I really love Darcey, for a girl.

doubleexpresso · 10/03/2010 09:45

Yes, unfortunately.

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/03/2010 09:48

I don't like it personally, however I wouldn't say it is chav.

It's just a bit of a type name.

suwoo · 10/03/2010 09:50

I know of only one and she was named before the upsurge in popularity. She is 8.

caen · 10/03/2010 09:55

I think it risks being a Tracy/ Stacey type name. So, yes, C*.

BridesheadRegardless · 11/03/2010 10:11

Not overusd, but possibly chav.

LittleSilver · 12/03/2010 20:48

Not chav, but overused! Like Ruby/Grace/Emily (snore)

tummytickler · 12/03/2010 20:57

Has become very popular in a matter of a couple of years (if that), so will date really, really quickly imo, along with Isla.
Can see it getting much more popular and then being dropped like a hot coal when more people decide it may be 'chavvy' or 'common' or whatever.

StrictlyKatty · 13/03/2010 11:00

I would say Chav, very much. It is very popular though.

Darcey Bussell is really called Marnie btw

CantSupinate · 13/03/2010 11:19

I don't know any.
Even though Names that get tagged as very Chav are quite common here (eg., Tyler, Kieran).

Nancy66 · 13/03/2010 14:14

yes. Ditto Lexie

mathanxiety · 13/03/2010 21:57

Yes and yes; it's in the same category as Lexie.

McBuckers · 22/03/2010 10:14

I really love the name Darcey but with just 3 weeks to go I'm having second thoughts and and am thinking of calling the baby Harriet. I think Darcey is getting very popular now and could become a bit dated. Also, when I went shopping yesterday a rather rough sounding gentleman shouted to his daughter "oi darcey get your a*se here nah!"

weisum · 22/03/2010 10:31

A lovely name, depends upon where you are living and working for how it is regarded I think.

McBuckers · 22/03/2010 12:39

Perhaps, though I think we are all influenced by the mass media, celeb culture and other more nation wide associations when it comes to names.
