To be honest I know of at least 3 baby Darcy's so I think it will date very quickly.

gemcgem · 24/03/2010 09:32

i don't know any! an we live near the biggest chav city!! ( but not in it )
i think its pretty!

diddl · 24/03/2010 10:11

I think it´s awful for a girl.

ilovesprouts · 24/03/2010 10:16

darcey def not chav imo

NorbertDentressangle · 24/03/2010 10:21

I think its an awful name for a boy or girl.

Part of the reason I don't like it is probably because I had to (once upon a time, as part of my job within social services) leg it after a 6 year old shaven-headed little boy called Darcy who was trying to do a runner whilst we were out on a day trip.

SqueezyB · 24/03/2010 12:25

not chav, but it seems to have got popular v quickly, so I think it will feel dated in a few years.

sassysass · 24/03/2010 12:28

I think it is the new Tracey, along with Lacey!

mazzystartled · 24/03/2010 12:31

I don't know or care about "chav"
But I don't like it at all, sorry.

Maggie00 · 24/03/2010 15:56

I prefer Dulcie. It's prettier and not a sur name. I don't like that Darcey could be a boy's names. Some people like that unisex vibe though. Depends what you're after.

MarianneD · 24/03/2010 17:24

Yes - very overused at the moment so will probably date quickly.

AllieW · 24/03/2010 18:16

Not keen for either gender. To me it's a surname (without the e, admittedly) and forever associated with Pride and Prejudice. That may be a good thing for you, of course.

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 24/03/2010 18:32

Please spell it properly if you use it - it's D'Arcy (my dad is called as is his dad and so on). A bit naff for a girl now I think, am sad though as always wanted to use it, as it's a family name.

LaRagazzaInglese · 24/03/2010 21:11

D'Arcy is french meaning 'of/from Arcy'
Darcy (i read) is irish and means 'dark one' and is unisex
Darcey is alternate/english spelling.

venusonarockbun · 24/03/2010 21:29

Yes to both overused and c*. Very much so.

hattee · 26/03/2010 10:45

I know of 3 Darceys. They are all friends of friends children who I have met but don't know very well. None of them are remotely chavvy
