Is he from Norfolk by any chance?

rubyslippers · 24/02/2010 17:32

he can't even blame pregnancy hormones

redcrane · 24/02/2010 17:33

I do love Horatio from CSI, but I think it is a bit much on a baby.

mathanxiety · 24/02/2010 17:33

Horatio is not bad. Boudicca is very, very bad.

senua · 24/02/2010 17:34

My bump was called Horatio.
It turned out to be a girl.

thehillsarealive · 24/02/2010 17:34

HAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa has he been watching CSI MIami - Horatio and Bodecea.

ronx, is he playing mind games with you? Maybe he has suggested some pretty normal names that you poo poo'd previously and he is hoping you change your mind????

Seriously mrsvwoolf? Boudicca? I mean you'd expect her to come steaming out of yer fanjo in a chariot really wouldn't you? At least Horatio could be shortened to...erm...Hero or something. Boudicca???

MunchMummy · 24/02/2010 17:43

Hummm, pretty bad, but then I once worked in an office where there was a Nelson and a Yorick!! I almost laughed out loud when I was introduced to the first one, but two strange ones in the same office was too much.

janeite · 24/02/2010 17:48

Horatio is just about okay; well, compared to the girls' name anyway! How about Hector or Horace? Both better than Horatio and actually, Hector is fab.

Boudicca is hideous!

LadyGaggia · 24/02/2010 17:53

Now are we using the current Boo dick ah pronunciation, or the old Bow da cee ahh version???

Undercovamutha · 24/02/2010 17:54

Bad bad bad names! Crazy crazy crazy DH!

Doozie · 24/02/2010 18:07

Horatio is great! (but wouldn't use it myself..)

Boudicca is a bit too much for me... it is an ugly name and she was a thug.

AllieW · 24/02/2010 18:12

Not keen. Imaginative teasers might nickname Horatio whore-eater. And much as I admire some of the things for which Boudicca stood, I wouldn't want to saddle a girl with her name. Or the Roman version of Boadicea.

I can only assume that your DH was fed up with name discussions and came up with daft ones to end the conversation. Either that, or he needs to take his tablet.

boodleboot · 24/02/2010 18:18

I like boudicca

Boo for Nn

i am a a total name philistine tho....

Missus84 · 24/02/2010 18:20

Funnily enough my DP has also suggested Boadicea!

mathanxiety · 24/02/2010 18:33

Is it because it sounds so bodacious?

weegiemum · 24/02/2010 18:38

i get midnightexpress.

Can't quite imagine "Boooooo-dikka" yelled across a park in a broad Glasgow accent!

WidowWadman · 24/02/2010 18:43

Horatio rocks. We actually called our daughter "Horatio" when she still was a bump and wee didn't know the Gender. We thought Horatio was much nicer than just "bump" or "baby". Had she been a boy it wouldn't have been unlikely that Horatio had stuck just as a middle name.

nannynobnobs · 24/02/2010 19:04

Oh yes horatio is Viz slang for blowjob (fellatio)

Miggsie · 24/02/2010 19:04

use them as second names but not first names!!!!!

2old4thislark · 24/02/2010 19:06

My colleagues and I had a discussion about the worst children's names we'd encountered in our careers and Boudicea won. Nuff said!

StillCrazyAfterAllTheseYears · 24/02/2010 19:16

There was a Boadicea/Boudicca (nn Boo) in the Saturday Guardian's Me and My Lovely Home feature.

I would counter his suggestions with Beatrice and Henry. Unless you can be absolutely certain that your children will grow up to be Poet Laureate, Oscar-winning film director or anything else where an, ahem, unusual name will be an asset rather than a liability.

ellesabe · 24/02/2010 19:18

I quite like Horatio
