christopher - old fashioned?

My husband LOVES this name and as I cant think of anything at all this time, I cant think of a reason not to. But is it just me or is it a bit old fashioned now? I know lots of 'old' names are de rigeuer but have niggly feeling. What say you?

I say Yes Yes Yes - how fantastic to have an unusual name in these days of Noah and Elijah and Seth and Louis and Theo and Oliver. How brilliant to be a little bit different. Its a great name.

My Ds1 has Christopher as his middle name, it's his dads name.

its lovely name - lots of nicknames - and great for bollockings telling off as you can really make the name stretch out

It IS old-fashioned - I am 40 and know about 6 blokes of around my age called Chris. But actually it's nice. And I like Kit as well.

It's a name that will never be truly unfashionable. It's classic, but not overused. Love it.

Lovely name. Timeless rather than old-fashioned.

We would have loved it for one of our dcs but couldn't use it because of sad family connections.

I must say I don;t love it and I think you need to like the shortened version - Chris/ Kit as its bound to be.

It can never be old fashioned-it is a classic and lovely IMO. The only downside is that it will get shortened.

Oh wow - am really surprised at positive responses! Thanx for posts. Do you think it goes with our other boy Thomas? Thomas and Christopher not a bit, well, dull?

Love it. I always wanted it for a boy, but my last arse hole of a manager was called Christopher and it was just a bit too recent. Kit's fab as a nn, and Chris also very cool.

My dh is called Krystopher. His English mum and dad wanted to be different. He loves it as he has never come across anyone else spelt the same way.

DD has a Christopher in her class.
Goes well with Thomas. (I quite like that they both have a superfluous 'h' in them - they sort of match )

It's one of those 'full' names that no one uses, all are Chris.

squish sometimes 'silly spellings' are what makes a name unique, stopping it from being too popular and samey IYKWIM.
