Eadie? Made up name IMO. I know one, and think the spelling is really odd. Surely it's short for Edith and should be spelt Edie. Bronte is a boys name or a surname. Love Tabitha and Iris.

Snowtiger · 08/12/2009 13:13

Iris gets my vote. A beautiful name and a beautiful flower, and nicely traditional in-keeping with George and Louis.

FWIW my opinions of the others: Darcey's a bit poncey; Eadie's quite nice but never seen it spelled like that before; Tabitha reminds me of spoiled little madams and Bronte just feels like you're trying too hard to sound well read... IMHO!!

Well you did ask....

MmeLindt · 08/12/2009 13:15

Darcy would go well with your boy's names. Very pretty. Don't know about Darcey.

Eadie is awful, sorry.

Tabitha and Iris are nice.

Bronte - more of a boys name I think.

LaDiDaDi · 08/12/2009 13:17

Iris.

I like Edie, but Eadie is just weird.
Tabitha, ok but do you mind the nn Tabby?
Bronte is a bit try hard imo.
Darcey just makes me think "Arsey" but that might just be me.

lumpasmelly · 08/12/2009 13:18

Yes - I think Eadie is actually spelt Edie!...love the name as it reminds me of a song by the Cult back in my student days (ah the nostalgia!) but it also makes me think of the slutty woman in Desperate housewives!!!

so funny you say that Tabitha sounds spoiled as I read my son a story about a spoilt girl called "Princess Tabitha"!!!

not keen on Iris but like all others.

DD 11wks is Darcy - so obv thats my fave. We were going to spell it Darcie but all the cards/texts we got spelt it Darcy so we went with that.

I worked with a woman who had a Bronte and althogh i like the name she used it so much when talking about herDD that it was annoying and a tad pretentious

lumpasmelly · 08/12/2009 13:22

BTW - my baby girl is likely to have light blue eyes, VERY pale skin and strawberry blond hair (ok - ginger!!) just like myself and her brothers, so need to take that into account!...

love iris

and it goes well with your other names

RnB · 08/12/2009 13:23

Iris is lovely.
Edie is nice, but certainly not Eadie
Sorry don't like the others at all

MamaLazarou · 08/12/2009 13:24

I like Iris, Tabitha and Edie (NOT Eadie). I have not seen Desperate Housewives, I would associate it with the Cult song. Darcy isn't bad, without the extraneous 'e'. Bronte is a bit pretentious, IMO.

MuppetsMuggle · 08/12/2009 13:25

Darcey isn't poncy. My DD name is Darcie

Love Bronte and Iris

doubleexpresso · 08/12/2009 13:27

Iris goes really well with George and Louis. It's a classic name and very pretty.

Snowtiger · 08/12/2009 13:33

Iris would be particularly good if she's going to have blue eyes! I think it's a lovely name.

I'm with you on the Cult reference, lumpa, I even remember going to Our Price to buy the CD single. (I was more of a Billy Duffy girl than Ian Astbury though, particularly when he went all mohawk-and-peroxide for the Love album)
< blushing now, just outed myself as an old goth. Still got my NMA clogs and everything >

The song was about Edie Sedgwick though and given how her life story went, probably not something you want to associate your daughter with, is it?!

MrsJohnDeere · 08/12/2009 13:41

Iris or Edie (not not Eadie)

lumpasmelly · 08/12/2009 13:42

oh - forgot about that reference(Edie Sedgwick) but it WAS a really good song ;)

Darcey - I don't like this personally, although it is very popular at the mo. Is like Evie - becoming ubiquitous.

Eadie - not this spelling, but Edie very nice.

Tabitha - a lovely name.

Iris - one of my all time favoruite names. Lovely meaning (rainbow) as well as a beautiful flower. Won't date.

Bronte - don't like this. Why name your child after a bunch of consumptives.

Fruitbatlings · 08/12/2009 13:50

Darcy - yes
Eadie - only if you spell it Edie
Tabitha - pretentious but I quite like pretentious
Iris - Ok
Bronte - Brontesaurus?

outinthesticksmummy · 08/12/2009 13:52

we have twins Edie and Ava , so obviously love Edie - sure Eadie must be a spelling error ???? Tabitha - too cat like, love Iris too

lumpasmelly · 08/12/2009 13:59

Brontesauraus!!!! I've gone right off that one now!!! Thanks for pointing out......my 2 sons would have a field day!

Tabitha and Iris. None of the others. I knew a Bronte who was called Tyrannosaurus for reasons her brothers could no doubt explain.

cumbria81 · 08/12/2009 15:29

None of them except maybe Eadie (spelled Edie, btw) but isn't that an abbreviation for Edith?

RemyMartin · 08/12/2009 15:32

Love Tabitha, also Edith.

teafortwo · 08/12/2009 15:56

I am head over heels in love with the name Bronte and have it on reserve for if I ever have an English Setter dog. It somehow seems right for a sleek beautiful gundog but I am not sure about it for a girl or tbh thinking further ahead a woman...

Iris seems best for a girl's name. Firstly it is a nod of the head to literature if you want that(Murdoch). Secondly it is a name that, unlike lots of girls names, has no script. Iris can be a lover of the wilderness, a city slicker, into music, a successful laywer, scientist, an actress a girly girl, a bit boho, straight laced or a right tomboy... or anything in the World she wants to be! It is a name for a girl to put meaning to - GO FOR IT!

LetThereBeRock · 08/12/2009 16:00

None of them I'm afraid.

MadBadandCoveredinTinsel · 08/12/2009 16:06

I love Iris and Tabitha which are also (I think) the best fit with your boys' names. I also love Edith, but would only use Edie as a nickname with Edith on the birth certificate.
