I have my girl's name but not yet set on boy's name. I thought I had decided on Arthur but when I mentioned it to a friend she said it sounded like a cats name and then another said did he really take the christmas club money

Not sure why I like it but I do I think. I absol love love love Archie and Alfie but way too popular where I live.

Thoughts on Arthur please??

DS2 was nearly Arthur-love it!

I do love the name Quentin but I have a double barralled surname and to me it sounds a bit pretentious (sp??).

Middle name will be William (after my dad) love James but this one already has a half brother with that name! Love Daniel and Adam but already have those names in the family!

It's not yet popular here (Somerset) I had a thought the other day on Robson but makes me think of Robson Green so was enough to put me off. I also like Rhys but not sure about having a welsh name as dd doesn't.

Which brings me back to Arthur!!

I am a practice nurse and do all the immunisations in the local and larger community. I could list the common names, esp when doing a clinic and you call out a name and five parents and children look up. you won't find that with Arthur, I know a 91 year old (my uncle) and a one year old (best friends child) and I also know a teenager called Arthur. It is a lovely traditional, not too common, steady-as a rock, with a real gravitas who will go far, name. Gorgeous.

It is fairly popular as it's sitting just outside the top 100 boys' names.

I know of about five little Arthurs.

It could depend on the area. I'm in London.

I really like Arthur but it is definately becoming more popular, whereas Archie and Alfie are already very, very popular. I also know a couple of baby Quentins, so that too seems to be gaining popularity. I guess the trend to 'old' names is gaining momentum... but the main thing is that you love the name!
