Do you like this name? My BF can't decide if she likes it or not. She has a DD called Nicole and a DS called Jake.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

So your daughter is called Saskia?Well that is a beautiful name not chavvy at all(?!)Don't understand why you got bent out of shape. Why so vindictive?I've never offended you I don't even know you x

allipalli · 28/10/2009 00:16

I have never ever known of a Paige so can not comment. Is it really popular enough to have a label??

FluffyPumpkins · 28/10/2009 00:20

wtf

CinderellaRach · 28/10/2009 00:48

FluffyPumpkins · 28/10/2009 01:14

klass

wrongun · 28/10/2009 01:19

Thanks for the pat on the back CinderellaRach. Preferable to the kiss locket received.

Klass indeed! lots of that about tonight methinks.

OverwhelmedandUnderpaid · 28/10/2009 03:34

Almost afraid to comment however back to OP, I am not from the UK and don't get the chav association - I think that it's a pretty, feminine and underused name.

mathanxiety · 28/10/2009 04:32

I would put it with other American-type names like Peyton and Kendall and Addison. You would find it in the Atlanta burbs, and yes, her siblings would be Nicole and Jake.

nooka · 28/10/2009 05:23

I agree with mathanxiety, it goes well with the other names, it sounds a little American (although Elaine Paige is what immediately came to my mind) and I don't like it. Maybe that's because Nicole now makes me think Nicole Ritchie, which therefore in my mind means no class at all. I guess a few years ago it would have made me think "Papa" and car adverts, so it shows how changeable these things are.

Earthstar · 28/10/2009 06:56

I quite like it but very American

Vivia · 31/10/2009 19:41

This thread has descended into chaos! I'm afraid the name Paige to me is dated, too harsh, and sounds rather vacant.

pranma · 31/10/2009 19:48

Whats wrong with you all? It's just a name-not outlandish,'chavvy' or ugly-a bit 'yesterday' but inoffensive.

peanutbutterkid · 31/10/2009 19:56

omg, what mean responses some of you .
I know a lovely 7yo ENGLISH girl called Paige, pale (peaches and cream) skin with beautiful freckles and a gentle sweet manner. Her mother teaches people to ride horses; they are among the least 'chavvy' people I can think of.

GhoulsAreLoud · 31/10/2009 19:56

I've got a vague recollection of it meaning something like servant, will look...

peanutbutterkid · 31/10/2009 20:07

Poppy.
Now there's a name that sounds like it should belong to a dog and not on the top of a CV that is meant to impress anybody. But Poppy is the darling name for middle classes girls -- the next female PM probably WILL be called Poppy.

Meanwhile, Paige or Nicole, which are real names, as good as any name, get labeled as bad taste 'chav'.

Honestly, I don't understand people .

(Okay, okay, I will endeavor not to get riled about this any more ).

bellissima · 31/10/2009 23:21

Erm GhoulsAreLoud isn't the servant a 'page' as in page boy? As in to page someone I suppose (?maybe, who knows).

Awful lot of bickering going on here. To me Paige, Morgan, Drew etc just sound very American. But then as soon as a little Paige, Morgan Drew or whatever appears on film or TV then I suppose the name becomes popular here. As to it's sociological status, well you never know - as I've said before, I have an elder cousin named Tracy because her mother thought High Society was really classy. I know lots of little Amelies because their mothers thought the film was really classy and French you know - whether the name will become ahem, well, some of the descriptions on here that shall remain unspoken, is anyone's guess.

GhoulsAreLoud · 01/11/2009 14:25

Yes bellissima

GhoulsAreLoud · 01/11/2009 14:26

What's with the erm, btw?

bellissima · 01/11/2009 15:56

Just a hesitation ! (I'd had a glass of wine). But what I want to know is does 'to page someone' (like the handsome A&E doc when the patient suddenly collapses etc) come from page? suppose it must - you sent a page boy.

sorry for hijack. wonder where the 'i' came from. and why it became a girl's and not a boy's name...

get back to ironing school kit bellissima (groan)
