My dd2 is going to be called Maisie, and we already have Millie. Goes nicely with Matilda

Roopoo · 27/10/2009 15:39

Thanks
I love it xx (also like Millie a lot as well)

Sorry, I don't really like it. It's a baby's name, not a grown up's.

birdofthenorth · 27/10/2009 15:45

I really like Maisie, my friend's DD is Maise Louise -she's gorgeous.

Matilda is beautiful too -on my own shortlist- but I'm not sure they go together well, possibly a bit too similar? Esp if their friends shortened them to Mattie and Maisie!

GColdtimer · 27/10/2009 15:45

I nearly had it for DD but was put off by DH who thought it was a little girls name. We then thought of calling her May with the nickname of Maisie. Not conventional but at least she would have something to fall back on if she wanted to be a hard hitting barrister of something!

I do like it though.

birdofthenorth · 27/10/2009 15:46

Maisie Louise, I mean

eggontoast · 27/10/2009 15:50

I just imagine if I would like to be called it. I thought it sounded quite 'cute' and I am not sure I want to sound cute at 26. I like names you can use a grown up alternative for once you grow out of the 'cute' phase. It is very lovely for a baby/child though.

Jujubean77 · 27/10/2009 15:51

A Victorian scullery maid

Vivia · 27/10/2009 15:59

Awful.

doubleexpresso · 27/10/2009 16:30

Love Maisie, but do think that whilst it's very cute and sweet on a toddler, it's little harder for a rebellious teenager to carry off and a sassy business woman IYSWIM.

ZZZenAgain · 27/10/2009 16:31

Really don't like Maisie at all (sorry to any mums of) but I think it goes well enough with Matilda.

Roopoo · 27/10/2009 16:38

Maybe I should have a rethink.......

ZZZenAgain · 27/10/2009 16:46

no, it #s the same with almost every name, some people will like it , others won't.

If you and dh like it, go for it. But you did ask us what we think

Besom · 27/10/2009 16:52

I know a lovely 9yo Maisie, so I like it.

PumpkinJollster · 27/10/2009 16:54

LOVE Maisie - but it is a name of one of our cats

Is Matilda always Matilda or does she get shortened?

Cos Maisie sounds like a shortening and Matilda a full name... IYSWIM...

Roopoo · 27/10/2009 17:56

We call our Matilda Tilly..xx

ZZenAgain - No your right I definately wanted honest opinions which is why I posted on here as I always get them

yogabird · 27/10/2009 17:59

love it - have one she loves too

diddl · 27/10/2009 18:27

I like it, although always had a feeling it was short for something like Margaret?

MRSwereWOOLFhasabroomofherown · 27/10/2009 18:50

It's okay. Matilda is a lovely strong name though and don't like Maisie quite as much as that.

sophiesmummie · 27/10/2009 19:00

Really don't like Maisy/Maisie at all, I'm afraid.

But it's your baby and your opinion should matter most, not ours .

evaangel2 · 27/10/2009 19:05

I like the name, our hamsters called Maisie
but it would not be my ideal childs name but that imo

PumpkinJollster · 27/10/2009 19:22

yes
Maisie and Tilly work

Maisie and Matilda sound like Billy and Edward (i.e. one name is more formal than the other). As opposed to William and Edward, or Billy and Ted.

Dunno if I am making sense - I am to me !

pranma · 27/10/2009 20:32

Gorgeous name-Julie Walters' dd is Maisie
I did have a labrador called Maisie which is why my dd rejected the name.

blue22 · 05/11/2009 11:38

I took DD to baby clinic yesterday and the 4 baby girls in front of us were all called Maisie!!!

posieparker · 05/11/2009 11:43

There are loads of Maisies where I live too but I still like the name, I have a Mabel.

Forget whether or not a teen or adult can have it, it's just that Maisie is a girls name right now because most Maisies are very young or very old.
