Queenie for a girl... too Blackadder?

I really like this name. Ever since I saw the film 'This happy breed' about a London family in the 20s, 30s and 40s. My family (one side at least) are old Acton London towners. So I might be able to get away with the 1920s cockney vibe. But worried it won't go with our 'foreign' surname or that it sounds like a 90 year old biddy. Anyone know any Queenies?

Please don't.

i love it as a nickname, isn't it short for something?

Ronaldinhio · 21/10/2009 20:39

had a brood mare called Queenie

tearinghairout · 21/10/2009 20:39

It was a nickname for girls called Victoria. I like it

TheHeadlessWombat · 21/10/2009 20:39

It's awful. Don't do it.

HellBent · 21/10/2009 20:40

Only one, it is a yorkshire terrier though!
I like tearinghairout's suggestion.

Podrick · 21/10/2009 20:40

It's great!

Biobytes · 21/10/2009 20:41

My old dog was Queenie, she was lovely.

teameric · 21/10/2009 20:41

I'm cockney but don't even think I could get away with that one, and no I don't know any either.

Ijustknow · 21/10/2009 20:41

So Queenie is not going down well? No cool vibe? I don't like Victoria or Elizabeth so it would have to be Queenie or nothing.... back to drawing board. Or maybe I could name a pet that name!

i like it, esp as nn for victoria

BonjourIvresse · 21/10/2009 20:46

no way.

treedelivery · 21/10/2009 20:46

My nanna is called Queenie. I think it is linked to Elizabeth, which is linked to Agnes - which is her birth name. I have always called her Winnie

Ondine · 21/10/2009 20:47

I imagine someone really shrill, brassy and annoying being called Queenie.

Don't do it!

Megglevache · 21/10/2009 20:52

Do it!

I have one and don't care who hates it

Read a book ages ago called Queenie, main character was gorgeous, always wore pink (having been denied the colour as a child!) think she turned "professional" in the end...

HuwEdwards · 21/10/2009 20:58

It conjurs up a vision of some elderly Eastender-type character supping half a mild whilst doling out 'advice'

CarmenSanDiego · 21/10/2009 20:59

I rather like it

Megglevache · 21/10/2009 20:59

Huw we all have dreams for our children don't we?

suwoo · 21/10/2009 21:02

Do it!! Wish I had the balls to. Although she would sound a twat with our surname.

Megglevache, I love your DC's names.
