Christmas themed names for a girl

dd2 is due on Xmas day, and DH & I are thinking of using a Christmas themed name as a middle name, or first name if she is born on 24th, 25th or 26th December.

We so far are aware of Hollie, Mary and Star, and that's about it

DD was born the week before Christmas.

We considered using a Christmassy name for a middle name

Natalya
Lucy
Christa
Gabrielle
Emmanuelle
Estelle

(but in the end rejected all of them)

I knew an american chap who born on christmas day and called Santa
It went very badly with his surname
and appeared to mortify him....
And certainly if he had been called Steve we would have all regarded him differently

Im not saying 'dont do it' but think subtle? Seren and Celyn sound good

LilredWig - Marley? Belle? Martha? Fezziwig?
I am dying of suspense here!

Seraphine
Stella (star)
Shalom
Ivy

I personally would be more inspired by the natural elements in winter and the vibes of peace and good will

or you might be inspired by birth stones:

Birthstones for the calendar month of December are turquoise, blue topaz, tanzanite, zircon, lapis, onyx, ruby, and chrysoprase.

The Zodiac signs of Sagittarius and Capricorn include five additional stones: agate, garnet, amethyst, sapphire, and beryl.

(don't know how easily Chrysoprase slips off the tongue - but hey?)

I also love Seren, by the way, Welsh for star but also similar to the Latin Serena, meaning serene or tranquil.

Gorgeous!!

Drayford · 12/10/2009 00:41

My DD (now 18) is Natalie (bday 21st Dec) and nobody has every commented on the Christmas assocation, but we feel it marks her Christmassy bday quite well. My Aunt is Stella (also born late December!)

MrsMerryHenry · 12/10/2009 09:08

Seirian (Welsh) is a beautiful name - prob related to Seren.

slowreadingprogress · 12/10/2009 09:46

oh I wonder if her name is Fezziwig

I like Seren as a name but personally if I wanted a 'christmassy' name it wouldn't have that aura for me. But then I couldn't really say I like Noelle or any of the more outright christmassy ones....Noel I do like for a girl though, I think it's elegant!

slowreadingprogress · 12/10/2009 09:47

oo, justbeen - I love Seraphine (or Seraphina) lovely....

facebookaddict · 12/10/2009 11:34

What about BELLE?

alypaly · 12/10/2009 11:37

christabel

hali..berry
bethany
francesca...sounds a bit like frankincense

stuffitllllama · 12/10/2009 11:38

clementine

facebookaddict · 12/10/2009 11:42

Stella, Seraphine, and Seren all gorgeous suggestions by other posts...

Nice to go subtle when doing the xmas theme thing

Scorps · 12/10/2009 11:44

I think my favourite so far is Seren, though DH is Not Keen, but for a middle name it would be great.

Hope and Faith, Hollie, are scoring well, especially Faith and Hollie if she is born on 24, 25, 26 Dec. Noelle - not keen, reminds me of that knob from Oasis (Noel Gallagher).

Thankyou all

A friends DD is Merial born 22nd Dec...Meri for short. Its a great name and really suits her although you do get the Merry Christmas thing!

Current wracking brains for female characters appearing in a Christmas Carol and failing.

campion · 12/10/2009 14:58

The former landlady of our local hostelry was called Mary Christmas! No kidding.

This doesn't help the OP but I still can't get over the time I rang up to make a Christmas booking and she said ' can you call back later and ask for Mary Christmas?'. I thought she was taking the p but she wasn't.

Natalie.

pinkx4 · 12/10/2009 16:08

Natalia is a beautiful name and one we will use if dd4 comes early!

MrsBadger · 12/10/2009 16:22

Serena better than Seren IMO

pollywobbledoodle · 12/10/2009 17:02

Ivykaty44 · 12/10/2009 17:36

MrsMerryHenry · 13/10/2009 20:41
