Posted last week about Rudy.. the other name under consideration for baby #4 due in 3 weeks is Eli (eelye) so a shortened version of Elias I guess. Opinions appreciated..

I have a 16 week Eli, I love it, he is just Eli, not short for anything, a few people have called him Eli Dingle, so be prepared for that if you use it.

Lovely name

My 20 month old DS is Elijah - we talked about perhaps using the shortened version of Eli, and maybe we will when he gets older, and perhaps his friends will but we always call him Elijah.

Incidentally my mum hated the name and thought it would be difficult for him to learn to say (her words) and asked from the off if she could call him Eli. I said 'no - his name is Elijah'.

Everyone always comments on it as being an unusual and lovely name and I think it's a strong name for a strong boy.

It was never on our shortlist of names, nothing even close, but when he was in my arms and I was finally left alone with him after he was born it popped into my head, I said it out loud, looked at my husband, he said it out loud and so Elijah he became.

In short - damn good choice if you ask me.

Had DD4 been a Ds4 she would have been an Elias. We also have heard the Dingle thing because ds3 is a Zack, does not bother me in the slightest as I think most the Dingles have got fab names!

Does it sound like e-lie?

Ely is a town nearish me and is pronounced E-lee.

If it's E-lie, yes I love it.

A friend of mine has an Eli, aged 9 months. It's a perfectly acceptable name in its own right. (biblical name) although I personally wouldn't choose it, I don't think it's a hideous name either

troutpout · 12/10/2009 12:47

love it

Jamieandhismagictorch · 12/10/2009 19:15

I really like it. Would probably use Elijah, with Eli as NN

benjysmum · 12/10/2009 19:19

love it. Very biblical. Great improvement on Melchizedek which DH seriously considered for DS

Curlygirly · 12/10/2009 19:43

I have an Eli.
I also love Elias and Elijah.

I absolutely love Elias and think Eli is really cool. Can't go wrong.

I like most of the derivatives of Elijah especially Elias. I have an Ellis so i am biased. He does get called Elli which does cause some looks
