pls excuse my last post, it wasn't me!

MrsBadger · 29/09/2009 23:57

no, the girl in the US teen drama-soap thing called Blossom was Jewish

KAEKAE · 29/09/2009 23:58

Ermmm...not sure about it as a first name TBH! I do know a few people who have recently used it for a middle name. I know of an Evie Blossom and Ava Blossom. If you really like it go for it...I really like Poppy and so many people have tried to put me off it but I love it and will use it!

blossomx · 30/09/2009 00:00

KAEKAE aw thanks, someone postive on this thread for a change i ADORE Evie Blossom, thats lovely. And Ava is amazing! Thankyou, any other girly names you can think of ? I like poppy, its cute and girly

Crap US afterschool special TV show

Sweet nickname, not a candidate for a birth certificate IMO. Blossom Gracie really doesn't sound good at all. Grace Blossom is OK I suppose, although I think that virtue names are a little hard to live up to.

One thing to bear in mind is that you may be girly, but your dd may not - she might be strong and feisty, or tomboyish or formal or anything really. Give her a name that can fit with whoever she wants to be, and then give her lots of nicknames too for indulging yourself until she asks you not too!

vess · 30/09/2009 06:43

Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup.
Powerpuff girls.

simplesusan · 30/09/2009 09:02

It's not too bad. I have heard worse and what about those very masculine names for girls such as Toni.

I don't like Gracie call her Blossom Grace if you love it but don't use Gracie Blossom it sounds far too twee.

Miggsie · 30/09/2009 09:24

Um, this is the name of friend's horse...so it would not be up there as my choice.

blueshoes · 30/09/2009 09:25

The movie Highlander.

Blossom was Christopher Lambert's love interest. Nice when she was a nubile young lady, but jarring on an octogenarian. He was immortal BTW.

choosyfloosy · 30/09/2009 09:28

mmmmmm sorry not keen

but i am quite rigid on names

i'm not that wild about Grace Blossom either tbh - a bit too many sssss sounds

Grace Lavender
Grace Rosemary
Rosemary Grace

poss Rose Blossom??? quite sweet

pagwatch · 30/09/2009 09:32

at Powerpuff girls.
I hated that programme.

waaayyy to twee and tis the name of a cow. A pretty cow but undeniably a cow

blueshoes · 30/09/2009 09:33

This is causing disturbing names like "Poppy Honey" popping into my head.

PestoLovelyMonster · 30/09/2009 09:34

Sounds like a sister for Jamie & Jools Oliver's kids.

choosyfloosy · 30/09/2009 09:36

Grace IMO is a pretty strong name.

Mirabelle?

spicemonster · 30/09/2009 09:38

Sorry, I don't like it at all. What if she is a great galumphing girl rather than a little frail thing? She'll hate you forever for saddling her with that.

minervaitalica · 30/09/2009 09:48

ehm, no. Grace Blossom better but does not sound right altogether. Lily, Rose, Rosemary much better imo if you are looking for "nature" names (although not my thing).

Re: girly names on grown ups... I knew a Cindy that was a high-powered executive. She changed it to Cyd.

MintyCane · 30/09/2009 09:49

It is horrible.

OrmIrian · 30/09/2009 09:53

No no no no.

My boss used to call me Blossom as a pisstake. It made me so cross. Don't.

Agree that you are not naming a wittle pwitty girl, but a person.

Blossom is an excellent name for a fluffy bunny though.

You can always use it as a nickname!

Gateau · 30/09/2009 10:01

I think it's very sweet and gentle but wouldn't personally use because it was my uncle's affectionate nickname for his MIL. But that means nothing to you, OP, so....
Think Blousie (sp?) is also really sweet. Have not heard it since watching Bugsy Malone yonks ago. Blousie was Bugsy's girlfriend.
