this is my name of the week....I really like it after meeting someone recently of this name who totally wiped out any residual thoughts of Margot Leadbetter....i think it could be a really classy name for both a little girl and also a grown up woman....your thoughts please

hmmm ... i think i like it

it may be a grower ...

MaggieLeo · 02/09/2009 17:45

I have one. I keep name-changing though, so it probably seems like there are about 5 MNers with a Margot. She's 7

CarmenSanDiego · 02/09/2009 17:45

I love it! Margot Fonteyn is a nice association too.

pinkthechaffinch · 02/09/2009 17:46

I like it

I always think of Anne Frank's elder sister.

Has a classy 1930s feel to it IMO.

Stokey · 02/09/2009 17:50

I Have an Aunt called this and have always loved it ( and she is a very nice aunt too). you could always call her Margaret as full name and shorten it ot Margot

then later on she can choose a different short form if she prefers

boodleboot · 02/09/2009 17:53

maggieleo - what do you call her for short? someone suggested Miggy which i think is very sweet....

It's not to my personal taste, but there isn't anything wrong with it.

teafortwo · 02/09/2009 19:24

I know a Margot who is three.

She is so very very beauiful, sweet and calm. A true angel. Because of her I could never have bad thoughts about the name - for me it is an absolute winner!

GossipMonger · 02/09/2009 19:25

I know a little Margeaux which I think has a lovely spelling rather than Margot.

GrendelsMum · 02/09/2009 19:25

Lovely name.

dogofpoints · 02/09/2009 19:27

I much prefer the look of Margo, even though linguistically incorrect. I don't like Margot

MeAndMyMonkey · 02/09/2009 19:32

divine!

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 02/09/2009 19:34

It's lovely and a refreshing change from all the zillions of names ending in -a.

I think I read once that Margaux Hemingway was actually named Margot. I'd probably go for the more usual spelling.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 02/09/2009 19:39

I love that O sounding on the end of names, so punchy and strong without being masculine.

jkklpu · 02/09/2009 19:47

I like it but prefer Margaux, too

jellybeans · 02/09/2009 20:33

I really don't like it, sorry, too old grannyish for me.

Meglet · 02/09/2009 20:39

Margot is so pretty!

Tortington · 02/09/2009 20:39

the good life - thats all that it conjures up for me

sweetkitty · 02/09/2009 20:41

Not that keen sorry

DownyEmerald · 02/09/2009 20:43

I know a little 3 year old Margot - it's lovely. Margot-moo.

Not Margeaux - think that when you see it written down it takes a couple of goes to realise how it's pronounced.

macherie · 02/09/2009 20:43

I think it's lovely

My mums sister is Margaret, but mum always calls her Margot (I have always called her Aunty Mar!)

PuzzleRocks · 02/09/2009 20:43

Beautiful. Makes me want to have a third daughter.

EachPeachPearMum · 02/09/2009 20:44

It's lovely- we were going to use it this time round as a middle name... but we had a boy.

southeastastra · 02/09/2009 20:44

i really like margo, though i like margowheresmynoonoo

boodleboot · 02/09/2009 23:07

I think Margeaux looks too much like gateaux....

i hope this name-crush lasts the whole pregnancy......
