I really like it - DH thinks it's ridiculous and poncy. Is he right? Eek feel nervous now that you're all going to agree with him

ooh really countess? I am ridiculously chuffed by just one positive reply. Please keep them coming and I will show this thread to convince him!

(FYI he likes unbelievable ridiculous names such as Mowgli (yes really) and Reef (not even a name)

oh is there an evil Inigo in some great work of literature or something?? I only know about Inigo Jones

LionstarBigPants · 08/07/2009 16:59

I've always secretly fancied it - after Inigo Jones the architect

twoluvlykids · 08/07/2009 17:00

if the choice is between Mowgla, Reef, or Inigo, then I'd go for Inigo.

however, I wouldn't choose it myself - the kids at school would call him Indigo

LionstarBigPants · 08/07/2009 17:01

Inigo Montoya - 'The Princess Bride'

CountessDracula · 08/07/2009 17:01

i can think of worse nicknames than indigo though!

Doctorskidaddle · 08/07/2009 17:01

but indigo is my favourite colour

he doesn't sound too bad lionstar - isn't it OK to kill someone if they killed your father (not legally of course, but morally?)...

ShowOfHands · 08/07/2009 17:11

I love it. If I had a son I'd call him Inigo.

Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!

Can't resist it. What a film.

Nekabu · 08/07/2009 17:54

A vote for it here!

stripes200 · 08/07/2009 17:58

Oh Reality!! You beat me to it.

Fuffing LOVE that film.

BTW unless you're Spanish, no way.

GetOrfMoiLand · 08/07/2009 18:00

I like Inigo. It is on my fanatsy baby names list. Not that i would ever use it as surname is Jones, but still.

It's a lovely name

ThingOne · 08/07/2009 18:00

I only know Inigo Jones too! Great name.

scaredofthegarden · 08/07/2009 18:03

Also immediately thought of the Princess Bride. Everyone of our age will.

I have to say I think its unfair to give a child a name like that. He'll forever be asked to repeat his name and everyone will think its indigo. Don't do it.

Scorpette · 08/07/2009 18:10

Inigo is a lovely name and Inigo Jones was a great name. It's on my list for any future possible Ds! Sadly, DP hates all boys names except Jacob, so...

Ewe · 08/07/2009 18:12

It's the name of a bar near me, that would put me off personally. Assume you don't live near Clapham though so it probably won't matter!

crumpette · 08/07/2009 18:23

I really like it!! do live a bit near clapham though so that's it ruled out for me!!

Honestly, I was thinking earlier that I like the name Ines for a girl, and then thought of Inigo and thought yeah that's not too bad.

DH would be having none of it, however! He only likes the names Elizabeth and James .... sigh....

HumphreyCobbler · 08/07/2009 20:08

I like it.

Doctorskidaddle · 08/07/2009 21:00

ooh more yeses than no's I think - i feel encouraged...

scorpette - think I will take a leaf out of your DP's book and tell DH that I have gone off all boys' names except Inigo - do you think it will work?

stripes - I'm not Spanish but everyone thinks I look Spanish and I have spent many years living in Spanish-speaking countries - does that count?

Also like Ines crumpette - maybe if she's a girl...

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 08/07/2009 21:10

crumpette?????????

toast? pikelet? muffin?

No to Inigo BTW. My name is Inigo Montoya.....

Would you pronounce it Inigo or Inigo? TBH the 'nig' part makes me feel a bit icky. lus the first (anglicised) pronunciation sounds like in 'e goes...

Doctorskidaddle · 08/07/2009 21:16

kat - would pronounce it Inigo

I think you are the first to slightly put me off it with your 'in he goes' though!!

OP posts:
singersgirl · 08/07/2009 21:21

Inigo, and outigo again.

MrsMattie · 08/07/2009 21:23

Christ no. One of the ponciest names I have ever heard.
