I am struggling to find a boys name that is the "one". I like unique names but also names that will grow with them, quite a difficult combo. I like the sound of Brakkai and Indio but would like to test them out before I actually name the baby. Any comments welcome.

Hi

If you liked Bracken what about Breccon? Don't know if anyone has suggested apparently he was a saint?

GetOrfMoiLand · 03/07/2009 12:15

Brannock was also a Celtic (iirc) saint.

nomorecake · 03/07/2009 12:22

I love the name Elmo...never met anyone called it. There was a Saint Elmo, so its not just for puppets.

EachPeachPearMum · 03/07/2009 12:33

Getorf... Brannock is a little too close to 'prannock'....

FairLadyRantALot · 03/07/2009 12:46

Thurston...well...if you live in Leicester...not agood idea...am sure there is a part of Leicester that is called somehting like that....certainly sounds like a part of town, ratehr than a name, lol!

How about Brannon...I know 1 little Brannon...and think it is a cool name

Other unusual names I can think of now:
Tariq
Pavel
Pasha
Sasha ( I prefer it as a boys name)
Roman
Jesse
Jonah
Noah ( my personal absolute favourite, but realise it is not that unusual)
Marvin
Mirco
Kaden
Christian

Are you thinking of Thurnby Lodge, FairLady?

GetOrfMoiLand · 03/07/2009 12:49

Each Peach - what's a Prannock? Is it something like a pillock?

FairLadyRantALot · 03/07/2009 12:50

no, lol...it might be Thurmaston...but thurston still sounds like a placename

FairLadyRantALot · 03/07/2009 12:51

there is a village called Thurston in Suffolk... just googled

cyteen · 03/07/2009 12:52

Oh yeah, forgot about Thurmaston...oh well, as long as he's not called Ratby it can't be too bad

GetOrfMoiLand · 03/07/2009 12:53

Thurston sounds like a real ale to me.

cyteen · 03/07/2009 12:58

Another plus!

FairLadyRantALot · 03/07/2009 13:10

or wigston

hehe, we hvae been pondering, if for whatever weird and wonderful reason we had called any of our sons Corby or even Corben (a name I actually did like) how weird that would have been....as we now live in Corby...

outnumberedbymyboys · 03/07/2009 13:46

Great site Surfermum. I used this for both my sons names. Worth considering names that are phonetic and people will not pronounce incorrectly on a daily basis for the rest of their lives!

FairLadyRantALot · 03/07/2009 13:50

outnumbered...we worked on the phonetic rule...especially as I am german, and becase our boys names are phonetic names they tend to work in both languages, and are pronounced the same, whihc we found important...
however, Sven does sometimes get called Seven or Swen (so, like Swan but with an e instead of an a ), Yannic seems to be unproblematic enough and Flynn, too

Fimbo · 03/07/2009 13:53
