Was flicking through books to get inspiration and chuckled at the thought of calling baby Elvis but since then it's really growing on me! Is that just mad or do you think it's passable?

If you want your child to be the butt of jokes for years to come then yes go ahead.

There's a Welsh St Elvis.
It too love the name, but just couldn't do it to a child.

OK - I know I always say this, but imagine yourself, just for a moment, a shy, slightly spotty, 11 year old. You are a bit smaller than your friends because you haven't done your growing yet. Your blazer is too big, your shoes are huge (because your feet HAVE done their growing!)and you are so self consious you wish you could sink into the floor whenever anybody looks at you.

On your first day at your new secondary school,you're asked to introduce yourself to your new classmates. Imagine yourself saying "My name's Elvis" Imagine your class mate's reaction.

It was my grandmother's middle name - yes, really. She was welsh but not sure that's any excuse.

Why do people want their children to be laughed at? If you love the name, then change your own name to Elvis by deed poll, but please don't inflict it on a child who has no choice in the matter.

Back in the old days when I trained as a nurse you still did a stint with a midwife as part of your training.In this area there is quite a large Romany encmpment and Elvis is,apparently,quite a popular name for boys within the gypsy community.I saw a 7 dy old Elvis,he was very cute but I honestly couldn't do that to a child,either.

I think it's very "now" in terms of Gladys having chosen it cos she wanted her son to be different. Some things never change.
