Does anyone think Elliot sounds feminine as a boy's name?

No. I hope not anyhow as it is ds2s name! I actually posted about the name Elliot about a year ago when I was pregnant, wondering what people shortened it to. Am really pleased with the name, it suits him (and he is avery boyish looking baby!)

Not in the slightest. I've always thought of it as a strong, masculine sounding name.

The name itself doesn't sound feminine, but most obvious shortenings do imo - El (Elle), Elly (Ellie), Lot (Lottie)... So as long as you don't shorten it, its fine.

I don't think Elliot is feminine I know a cute little boy named Elliot, his name doesn't get shortened.

Ellis, however, which I have heard on a boy, sounds weird and feminine to me.

i think Elliot is a lovely boys name, i remember a boy in my class at school called Elliot, quite good looking and not at all feminine!

The TV show "scrubs" has a female character called Elliot.

I have known a couple of Elliotts at school (both boys) they were both shortened into El - but it was a shorter sound than say Elle McPherson's name usually has & didn't really sound feminine.

I had a quick look online and found a few hits with people using Elliott as a girls name. Seems it's becoming more common. It's getting a bit like Ashley I suppose

I have an Elliot and it is usually shortened (if at all), to El, and he's definitely not girlie! Know one has ever called him 'ellie' or 'lottie' afaik!

Ever seen Law and Order: Special Victims Unit? Nothing feminine about the Elliot character in that!

NO! I hate how people take prefectly sound boys' names and use them for girls. Grrrr! I'm sensitive because I've heard so many people say "Sam seems kind of girly now..."
