I prefer Eppie. But really just because of Silas Marner ("Eppie in the cole hole" anyone? )

I can't say that Euphemia does anything very positive for me.

There's a character in Skins called Effie. Her character is very pretty and a nutter rebellious, just to warn you, I suspect that this name will naturally become very attractive to many people, even if only at a subconscious level so you might not be the only one liking this name!

SamJamsmum · 15/05/2009 07:07

Fifi is traditionally short for Josephine.
Euphemia is Effie. I think it's a fab name. We had a family dog called 'Effie'.

Aoife is pronounced Eee-fah - and it's not Scottish gaelic, it's an Irish name.

Anyway, Effie is short for Euphemia. this page has more

My mother wanted to call me Effie after some one she knew. I don't think it was short for anything.
If your into Greek mythology you could have Ephigenia for the long form.
