Anything that ends in 'ee' sound may sound like an American first name .... Jamie Lee etc.
I would choose names that end, like Austin, Jacob, Jonas, etc....

SoupDragon · 12/05/2009 13:35

Anything that doesn't end in an "ee" sound.

sockmonster · 12/05/2009 13:37

I don't think you should go for a name that ends in an exaggerated 'ee' sound aka bobby archie, as it sounds like a clown name or stand up comic or a female porn star or a construction firm.

Theodore? Henry? (I don't class the 'y' as an exaggerated ee!) erm, Dominic? Nicolas? Gabriel?
Stewart is vile- are you into classics like James or something totally offbeat?

nickytwotimes · 12/05/2009 13:38

Stewart Lee is a rather dishy comedian.

He is famous, honest!

Lee adn Herring?
Stewart Lee's comedy vehicle?
Jerry Springer Opera?

EyeballsisonaDietAgain · 12/05/2009 13:38

May I offer my potential name for imaginary DS1?

Dominic. I love it, DH hates it so I probably will never use it.

sockmonster · 12/05/2009 13:39

sorry x posted again!

BeautifulBubbles · 12/05/2009 13:41

DH loves Jacob. I dont.

DD has a very classic traditonal name so cant really go off beat too much.

MadreInglese · 12/05/2009 13:43

malenagrrl · 12/05/2009 13:43

I know a Jamie Parker Lee. I think it has a nice ring to it and he is a very sweet boy, now aged 9.

What kind of name do you want? classic, trendy, out there names??

A list of the names I quite like:

Ethan, Leon or Leo, Sebastian, Ben (or Benjamin), Dylan, Jamie, Zack or Zach, Tyler (not sure if would use it tho...), Joshua (too popular but nice), Matthias, Matthieu or Olivier (if you like french names), Reece, Alexander... and more!

MrsKitty · 12/05/2009 13:44

Mark/Marcus
Matthew
Michael

Agree with previous posters - nothing ending in an "ee" sound

malenagrrl · 12/05/2009 13:44

I also like Noah and Theo !!

ben5 · 12/05/2009 13:45

Benjamin
james
zach

MadreInglese · 12/05/2009 13:46

Joseph
Edward
Ryan
Benjamin
Patrick
Seth

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 12/05/2009 13:46

Dominic is very good, I think.

With Lee I think you need a longer first name, so how about

Tristan
Sebastian
Robert
Timothy
Joshua
Nathaniel
Daniel
William
Joseph

I agree about avoiding the -ee sound, otherwise I'd have suggested Stanley.

Fimbo · 12/05/2009 13:51

Sebastian
Edward
Philip
Joseph
Oscar
Myles
Henry
George

VinegarTits · 12/05/2009 13:52

Avoid names that sound like surnames too, or they will get confused at the doctors surgery

Austin Lee would read 'Lee Austin' to a not so bright receptionist

MadreInglese · 12/05/2009 13:52

oooh yes, Henry is lovely

KingRolo · 12/05/2009 13:54

Hmmm... Stuart Lee. I oved his comedy vehicle .

The name to avoid is Joe as when put with the surname is a little too like the Dolly Parton classic, and also Angelina's suname, could be potential for silly name calling.

Leon Lee or Leo Lee are just asking for it too.

Many of MadBadandDangerousToKnow's suggestions would work well being 3 syllables or more. I espcially like Sebastian Lee, William Lee and Nathaniel Lee.
