Erin or Matilda?

I am due in 6 days and think we now only have 2 names left on the short list, don't know which to choose. Our surname is Wilton, which one do you like best? Would probably shorted Matilda to Mattie or Tilly.

i would say matilda, but thats because it was the name we chose for our bump!!! i like Tilly for short. As we've discovered we're having a boy, its a moot point now
good luck!!

SoupDragon · 06/03/2009 14:27

Erin. I've never been a fan of Matilda.

goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 06/03/2009 14:31

I love the name Matilda and have never liked Erin. See what she looks like.

Hulababy · 06/03/2009 14:33

Matilda

MrsJamin · 06/03/2009 14:34

Love both, you have good taste. Erin seems to be a bit more serious, so depends whether you want a more girly name like tilly or a girl who could be an MP one day (erin!)

FruitynNutty · 06/03/2009 14:34

Matilda is lovely. I love the shortening "Matty" and "Tilda".
"Tilly" is quite popular imo

preggersplayspop · 06/03/2009 14:45

I think Erin goes best with Wilton. I find Matilda more of a mouthful. Erin is lovely.

HeyMa · 06/03/2009 14:46

tilly wilton might get tilly willy

strictmumof3 · 06/03/2009 15:15

I love Matilda best, good luck

rabuxton · 06/03/2009 15:41

Matilda

ShowOfHands · 06/03/2009 19:25

I have a Mathilda. She is Tilda to us but Mathilda to everybody else.

I do like Erin though.

annasmami · 06/03/2009 22:34

Both beautiful names, but I prefer Erin Wilton over Matilda (Tilly) Wilton. The second is a bit or a mouthful...

Tommy · 06/03/2009 22:37

both lovely - and I know a lovely Erin and a lovely Matilda

Lilyloo · 06/03/2009 22:39

Matilda definately

Tillyscoutsmum · 06/03/2009 22:42

I prefer Matilda but like Erin as well

weepootle · 06/03/2009 22:48

Matilda

I always think of Erin as a bit 'wet'.

RunningGirl · 06/03/2009 22:56

Matilda. Not sure why but I really dislike the name Erin. Actually agree with weepootle and think it sounds a bit wet.

jojo2008 · 07/03/2009 12:32

I think if our surname was short like "Jones" then Matilda Jones would be good, its just Wilton makes things a bit more complicated. Having an Erin day today! Thanks for all your comments so far- seem to have divided opinion! Our first little girl is Martha, that may sway which name you think we ought to go for.

DanJARMouse · 07/03/2009 12:36

Erin.

Sounds better I think.

weepootle · 07/03/2009 13:19

If you have a Martha then you need a Matilda! Those were my 2 favourite names and I think they sound lovely together.

LukeyMasonsMummy · 07/03/2009 14:19

Matilda

Jojay · 07/03/2009 14:23

Erin. I like Matilda but can't stand Tilly
